Slim Stockman

Nice one Elliot.Really rich color on it. Heres the kid brother at 3 1/4. Same slim blade. I find myself using this knife a lot holding it like a pencil.

I've thought about that smaller version, Steve, but since I so rarely carry even the 3.5" closed frames that I already have, I'm wondering if I should make the leap...
(...Naturally, I'm fully aware of the pro forma response I'd receive from our fellows. ;))

They would make for a nice line up. The small one the blades line up with the springs spot on in the open position. Do you find the bigger one is of high quality?

In honesty I haven't gone over it all that closely. I allow a bit of room in my scrutiny of production/carry knives. In other words, it's good enough without going overboard. ;)

Mooremaker's 5304 stockman, at 4 3/8 inches, also has the svelte "Turkish" clip master. It is a very solid well-fitted knife, and a pleasure to handle, although big for some people. I like them big. It reminds me of a Queen (omigosh, it IS a Queen!).

I've got one of those, Cal. I like it a lot though it's got the poorest action of any of my Moore Makers. Great pattern.

Those two guys are dangerous... We (me and you) are hopelessly behind and can never catch up. I love that yellow bone on those knives. And I like the smaller version better I think. It would be the first one I bought. My paws are not as big as Elliott's I guess. I will say though that a big honkin stockman like the one Elliott posted can be mighty useful if you only have one knife.

The yellow one I posted is 3 7/8" closed. Not so big or honkin' after all, huh? ;)

Patina Steve,,,Patina :D

I know. On my antique knifes they are left intact. My newer users I keep up on maintainence by oiling and using silver polish to clean the blades. Sometimes crocus and oil because it doesn't remove material, or hardly any. It's still getting a patina and black spots here and there, and eventually it will look antique if the scale doesn't fall off from the crack running through it. Theres so many knives on my short list and I always ponder getting another one of these for a back up. I have stopped trying to figure out why this knife is the most favorite knife I have ever owned, as far as users anyways.

Of course, the Forum 08 knife I'm fiddling with is a pretty slim Stockman despite being stag. 0.70mm at its thickest point Northwoods based on the Queen MM frame of 8.5cm/3.25" I like this knife a lot, some people had issues with theirs but mine is/was first rate.

I know Ed. David Copperthwait hammered it out back in the colonial days. (it was a sat night live sketch with Dan Akroyd):D

I've shown this before but I'll give it a toss into the slendereeno 4" Schrade 61OT Carbon Steel.
I love the long blade on this knife.

I think that is the best pattern of the Schrade Slendereeno selection. It can take on the big peppers.

The blade is a little bluer now that it is out of the box, and yes I have used it as a veg-ge-matic numerous times. I really got interested in Schrades several years ago when looking at Thawks collection on this site. This was the first really nice Schrade I have purchased. I don't have a lot of cash so when I do purchase a knife I try to save so I can get something that is nice. By the way we have seen some real beauties so far in this post. I don't mind a knife being a little longer as this one is, if it is slender. The nice thing about these Turkish Clips is the blade is very thin and they get extremely sharp and hold an edge. It's in my pocket right now on my way to work. Thanks Thawk for an entertaining post -- I love the pictures guys.
