After writing from memory I went and looked in my index card file under the 310s and some of what I said before was from a poor memory. Here is the written word.

I have 310s dated 1994, 1997, 2000 and 2003. It was introduced in 1992 in the Buck catalog, it was first shown in the SMKWs catalog in 1994. It is shown in Buck pricelist till 2001. SMKWs carried it in their catalog after that to a (unknown to me) date. Bass Pro took it over and offered 310 models with 309 stamped blades also with the sliding top wooden box until 2010.
92 to 96 you will have flat ground blades, 96 grind is changed to hollow ground. Late 99 will see it join the Buck Edge 2000 blade grind method. The wooden boxes were made in Mexico and introduced in 2000. Metal can be tumble polished or brushed finished. The brown jigged bone special edition is the only non-black sawcut model produced. No post 2010 date codes seen on tangs by me. ( As I have said many times you have to keep records both on you knives and information you glean.) 300

Nice find and interesting knife. I do sometimes wish I collected more then 303's as I'm missing out on some fun.

Thanks Clay. I have cleaned it up since I took the pics, and the master blade shined up nicely, it now looks sharpened but not so scratched. The former owner had obviously opened a lot of taped boxes, the master blade had dried, hardened tape residue all over it, and that made it look a lot worse than it really was. A good rub with denatured alcohol solved that issue. Honestly it is in better than "good used" condition like I said above, I would upgrade it to "excellent used" condition.
I'm just glad to have an example of the model, and will enjoy carrying it. At under $20 it was a bargain ta boot.

310's have had a long run over a number of years but the blades are not marked correctly after a few years. SMKWs took them into their catalog and sold them for a long time. Looking for a photo of a 310 with a wooden slide top box. I think what happened ( this is now speculations and rumors start) was SMKWs bought all of Bucks 310 stock and just sold them till they sold them out. You could find them on sale even a few years ago. Will go fight PhotoBucket some more. 300

I guess I'm not the only one with Photobucket issues. I find the site to be the slowest, worse spam-puking excuse for a website I have ever had to visit. I'm sure it wasn't you, I had problems today too, it just kept freezing up. Took three attempts just to get to the upload page, all the while dumping pop up spam along the way, (it does that REALLY well).
Thanks for the photo.

Got things in photobucket to work. Smooth as glass, let me write this on the calendar.....I think I will write Customer Service if they have one. 300

Nice mismatched sales. I have a 303 workman with 2 sides grey that missed the "Workman" etch.

Here's the ugliest knife in my collection! I haven't cleaned it yet so there's hope ( and flitz) my wife asked why I want this beat up thing

A knife on 300Bucks " look for" list I read in an old post...88' with KBH not the "BUCK" shield.

I went back and read this post again, and want to thank you for the historical info. Mine is definitely 1994 and flat ground. I finally put it under a bright light, and with a 10x magnifier could tell someone had run the master blade through a two-sided sharpening device of one kind or another, (the sharpening scratches are perfectly vertical on each side), which partially ground off the tang stamp and left kind of a wavy surface horizontally, (the edge is almost perfect though). However bad that was to the appearance of the knife, the blade, after stropping, is actually now one of the sharpest that I own. Whatever they used worked, at least as far as sharpness is concerned, (not so much for looks though). Thus, having said that, I am quite enjoying having this convenient sized knife as a daily user, it's tight, snappy, and obviously sharp. I think I like it a little more than the similar size #303 to be honest. I'm glad it's one of the earlier versions too, I don't especially like the "Edge 2000" grind on any of the newer 300 models.

Nice score!! I just found one of those......it is a great blade!
Really? How about a photo? If it is a black one I am officially green with envy. All of the Buck Barlows are scarce, congratulations on finding one.

Yours ?! Did you find one?

Yup, got lucky and found one at a dealer who had not listed it for sale yet. It had been in a private collection that had been bought but not "parted out" yet. Sometimes it pays to ask the simple question, "do you happen to have one of these?". I asked that question, and it just so happened that he did have one. Negotiations followed and the photo above is the happy result.

I will work on a photo.....it is the yellow version.....exactly like yours.

I'm looking at two 313 muskrats. One says buck 313 USA. The other says buck made in the USA on one blade and 313 on the other. Forgive my noobness, but what is the difference between the two. They are the same model. Different dates?

The second would be the older version, while the first is a newer version. 300buck will chime in and give you the full history......
