"Slipjoint Swap Meet" (Read Rules In Post #1)

I'll swap any one of the following America-made, carbon-steel Schrades:
* A lightly used Old Timer 34OT stockman
* A lightly used Old Timer Middleman Jack
* A lightly used Old Timer 194OT

For any one of the following:
* Case mini trapper with yellow handles/CV only.
* Case mini trapper with bone handles/CV or SS.
* Case medium stockman in amber bone/CV only.
* Case peanut with bone handles/CV only.

Used is totally fine (hey, the OTs are used), but not abused. I'd prefer a knife made in the past 5 years or so. I'm at mnessmith AT hotmail DOT com.

I have a Queen #11 FE single blade trapper, which is in decent condition (I've sharpened it and shaved hairs off my arm, and then put it back in the drawer) it may have a scratch or two, and I've lost the box. I would trade for a CV sodbuster jr., and would consider any carbon bladed slippie.

pjsnell,what is "FE" ?
Thanks,
-Vince

pjsnell - any interest in a one day carried Case slimeline trapper CV yellow handle?

Hi JHB.

That's pretty much the same knife! I'll think about it. (wouldn't have an extra CV soddie would you?)

Pete

Sorry thought you might be looking to swap based on steel alone. As for a soddie I do have a Boker wood handle but stainless as a blade.

i have a nib UH schrade senior rancher large stockman USA made for trade looking for a case trapper in cv, also large opinels, vic saks, carbon steel moras, or make an offer email me at judoemtb@yahoo.com if interested.

Thanks for the offer JHB. The D2 is tough to sharpen, but my main dislike is the pattern. It feels "dainty" in the hand. I think a sodbuster jr. would feel a little more sturdy.

I have a Boker 2-blade barlow, carried but little use, I helped the petina along and it is nice, i can post pics if you like, it is red jigged bone

I'm lookin' for carbon blades, sub 3-inchers, any patterns, but I like single blades

Thanx, Steven

I have a:

Case slimeline trapper CV yellow handle - carried for the day but still has box and tissue

Boker Soddie - wood handle stainless blade

Queen Swing Guard - this one has been carried (not by me other than to the office) but the blade still has the orginal edge. Just finding the thought of sharpening a bit daunting.

And since it's leap year, looking to trade them as a combo. Open to any offer.

. . . for trade. Nothing special, just users I'd like to get off my desk and get something I might actually use.

I've got two Ulster Old Timer scout knives, "Old Timer" on the shield, blade stamped ULSTER USA in two lines. No lanyard staple, I am pretty sure there have been cleaned up but they still have some patina. Users, remember?

Like-new whittler, main blade marked "WESTERN USA" in two lines, and "6504 C" in two lines on the back. The back is rough, like it was never ground or polished. Not sure if this is stainless or not. No box or paperwork. TRADE PENDING

Camillus yellow-handled trapper. Main blade marked
CAMILLUS
NEW YORK
U.S.A.
on one side and "35" on the other. Appears to be new, but it sat in a display case for a decade or so, so there are some rub marks etc on handle and blade. Pin crack on middle rivet of handle (both sides). Nice knife, just can't get used to the handle color.

2 advertising 2-blade Barlows. The only reason I'm listing these is that someone might collect advertising knives and want a couple of oddball Barlows. One marked "Imperial Prov RI USA" on the blade, brown plastic handle. Blade etched or inked with the "WARNING: UNDERGROUND CABLE" pitch. Dirty, blades discolored, this is a user or a placeholder. The other has white plastic handles marked for an Allis-Chalmers dealer. Blade marked "Colonial Prov. USA". Blades and bolsters have spots of light rust but might clean up OK to mere discoloration

I'm looking for "users" rather than collector pieces. Patina and sharpening marks are fine, as long as the blades snap well. (Who are we kidding, I don't mind the odd bit of rust. I'm going to carry and use the thing.) Carbon steel only, not really interested in stainless; I've a weakness for trappers with bone or stag handles. Don't like yellowplastic. Generally speaking, I'm looking for something along the lines of a Schrade 94OT/194OT/96OT. And I've always wanted a decent Barlow: one with bone handles and actual bolsters instead of the crimp-on bolsters I see so often.

coffeecup can you post pics? interested in the ulsters, western and camillus. Jhb interested in your case slimline trapper, what ya want for it??? - Joel

coffeecup, i'm interested in your whittler pattern.

i have a working class boker tree brand trapper, jigged bone, patina. i posted pics a page or two back.

I think I can post pictures, I just can't post good pictures so didn't bother earlier. Until I can figure why my scanner went on strike, this is about the best I can do in a "forumable" size.

If I've done this correctly, the first pic is the two Ulsters and the Camillus trapper. Blades are all lightly oiled, and I printed them up pretty good trying to get a decent pic.

The next pic should be the Western whittler, in between the two Barlows. Again, blades are oiled and fingerprinted up.

And it looks like it worked. Gradall5200, whatcha got to trade?

Siguy, saw your Boker when you posted it earlier--since I suspect the whittler is stainless I didn't say anything. I'm definitely interested, but please take note of the description. The knife is just not up to the same standard of fit and finish as your Boker.

JHB --

I have an Uncle Henry trapper w/convexed edges I would be interested in trading for your Case barehead trapper. It's only been carried half a dozen times, cleaned a few quail.

Let me know if you'd be interested.
