Sloppy Spyderco Fit & Finish- Manix 2 XL UPDATE

And avoid the drama? :p

This made me LOL :D

I believe if the dealer was willing to replace the knife in the first place the turnaround time from shipping it back to the dealer and getting a new one would have been quicker than the initial shipping to Spyderco for maintenance. Let the dealer work out the kinks, they have the resources and time. Could have had an awesome knife a week after the initial purchase.

I also agree that everyone has different opinions and expectations of certain price points in knives. My co-workers believe $40 will buy an indestructible knife with pure perfection. My Manix 2 for example got all of the Oos and Ahhs but when they heard the price tag (which was "cheap" to me) they said no way, they'd never pay more than $50 for it. It depends on the person, collector, user, etc...Honestly the first pics of the handle scales wouldn't have bothered me too much as long as lockup was solid and felt good in the hand.

Frankly I think some people think their money is worth way more than it is.

Got something to say?

Lemme guess, Some yellow and pink Vans, jeans so tight they were painted on, knit blue red and purple poncho, patchy beard and stach and some non prescription Ray Ban frames. Typical Internet tough guy

Typical troll post.

To any mods- the knife has been sold. This thread can be locked.

If you manage to get 2 threads locked within a week, I think I can safely say you are an obvious troll. Just sayin'.

Now please stop feeling sorry for yourself and claiming that $100 should get you perfection. One full shift at minimum wage can't get you a perfect anything.

I have access to a 500x digital microscope. Imperfections are in everything but Spyderco is as good as it gets for "normal" production knives (klotzi, CRK, Fontenille-Pataud, Rockstead etc. are a different league)- I might snap some pics if you want of side by side comparisons of tolerances/finish.

I would suggest returning to dealer so you can avoid all of these problems in the future.

I have the same exact problem with my Manix 2 XL, except mine is a lot worse than yours. One of the liners is almost "fully" semi jimped all the way around. Just bought it from BladeHQ and it's the none drilled out liners.

After reading your post I'm not sure if I should send it in for repairs, I'm still thinking about the issue. Getting a replacement from dealer is no longer an option for me since I had it for more than 2 weeks.

Anyways, this is the first Spyderco knife I've gotten that I'm disappointed with, and since I collect and don't use my knives, this defect is bugging the crap out of me.

If it bothered you why didn't just exchange it when you first got it?

Why does it matter the reason I didn't exchange it? What matters is this knife is subpar and should not have made it through quality control.

Anyways, I was indecisive and sat on it too long, so now my only option is to send it back to Spyderco.

What I don't understand is why so many Manix 2 XL are having this same exact problem coming out of Golden Colorado? I've seen some other photos else where of this same problem. There appears to be a bad batch of liners, I wonder why Spyderco choose to use them in production.

You could fix the issue with sandpaper, like I did with my Emersons.:)

How many have you seen?

rycen, i don't know why you have a habit of attacking other people as you've done repeatedly in this thread. Me and the other guy have stated nothing but factual information in regards to the knives we gotten and you have done nothing but question and doubt our word while insinuating ulterior motives.

What planet are you on? I simply asked a question. How many have you seen with this problem?

Uh, you did say so many were having this issue. It is reasonable to ask how many you've seen if you say there's a bunch of them.
2 or so wouldn't be "so many."
Dozens would.

Also feel free to point out where I have attacked anyone in this thread or entire forum.

He's not attacking you, dude. If anything, he's challenging your cryptic and generalized post, and asking where you get your information. Which is perfectly reasonable when you try to make a pretty big point without backing it up.
