Slow shipping from 1Stop Knife Shop?

Has anybody experienced delays in shipping when making a purchase from 1 Stop? I recently made a purchase from 1SKS via the internet and a few days later tried to track the order using the order number they sent me, to no avail. I then emailed them to find out how the items were shipped. I received no answer. I checked the transactions on the credit card I used for the purchase and it showed that my account was charged on 10/6/00. On 10/9 I contacted 1SKS to find out when when my order was shipped. When I gave the person at 1SKS the order number to track he told me that the order was probably shipped from California and that he couldn't find out any shipping info because the California office wasn't able to communicate with his office. So far (10/16)I haven't seen hide nor hair of my order.

steeler_fan,
Just because 1SKS has charged your credit card doesn't mean they've shipped your knife, or even have possession of it yet. It is their policy to charge you when they have "secured" the item from the supplier. If there's a delay in obtaining the item after it's been "secured," you may find the bill showing up long before your knife.

Personally, I prefer to do business with dealers who don't charge your credit card until your purchase is ready to ship. However, many BF members seem to be OK with 1SKS' policy, so maybe it's just me.

dsvirsky,
Every mail order business I've dealt with charged my account only at the time of shipment. I guess buying from 1 Stop Knife Shop was my mistake. From now on I'll stick to dealing with Brian at Discount Knives.

It is a violation of the credit card companies policies/terms of service to bill for an item before it ships.
Contact the seller and ask that in the future they dont bill your card until they ship. If they dont honor the request file a complaint with the CC company.

I thought charging before shipping was a violation, too. But not necessarily. The U.S. Mint does this as well. I think that, as long as you are told, up front, when the charge will occur, it's legal.

Codeman is correct. And yes we do bill your card the moment the product is secured from the supplier. We do this for several reasons one of which is so we do not overstock ourselves with product that gets declined the day of actual shipment to the customer. Charging a credit card before actual ship date is perfectly legal in all 50 states.

We have recently signed on with Moteng and are using their drop shipping program. This helps us increase our inventory and west coast customers will get their product faster. This has been going on for nearly a month and most bugs have been worked out. We are trying to integrate their tracking system with ours.

Also AR15 ALL companies bill credit cards before shipping. To bill after shipping would be stupid and would create a logistical nightmare each time a card is declined. I think what you meant to say was that the card should be billed at the time of shipment which is what we do in most cases anyway.

Most orders ship within 48 hours and nearly 95% of all orders get to the customer within 7 days depending on where you live in the US. We have been at this since March and we a re learning as we go along. I think overall we are doing a pretty good job but there is always room for improvement and we are making efforts to do so.

At this time we are understaffed and it shows. We are not able to answer emails as fast as we would like and orders don't go out the door as fast as we would like either. Again we are taking steps to correct any problems and we value your input.

I ordered some folders from them on 10/4 and didnt receive them till the 16th!!!!!!!!!!!

I placed an order with 1SKS last week and had delivery the very next day. This was my second order from them and there performance is as sharp as ever. You may have ordered something that has a pending backlog.

Have you tried to address this with them directly. A quick telephone call should resove your issue.

It's way too early to start bitching. You can't expect someone to have every knife on earth in stock. Sometimes we have to wait. Ten days is not a long time.

Yes, what I meant was you shouldnt charge the card until the product is ready to ship.
The is no valid excuse for charging a customers card days or weeks before you ship the product though.

My experience has been very good with 1SNS, I am waiting like everyone else for my LCC DA and have not been charged yet. It will be interesting to see when it arrives as I have had it on order for months!

1SKS,
The person I spoke with on 10/9 told me that if my credit card was charged my order was shipped. I really don't imagine that CRKT Point Guards are that hard to come by so instead of whining about how tough you have it tell the truth about your NO INVENTORY operation.

Isn't 1SKS's operation based in Florida? You live in Florida, right? No damn wonder you got your order that quickly. I live in PA but they're shipping from California????????

Most competent merchants have the "hot sellers" in stock (unless they're working out of their gameroom of course). I think CRKT Point Guards qualify as good seller. That's what I ordered.

stteler_fan,

You are very welcome to come by our warehouse and see our HUGE inventory. Anyone in here form Jax ever come by want to tell this person what size warehouse we have?

I would love to help you but we show no order from anyone using the email address you have. Who are you? What is your order number?

We do have all the hot sellers in stock but we also run out at times.

We are not working out of a "Gameroom" sir. We are located at 5151 Sunbeam road in Jax Fl. You are welcome to come by and I will be happy to take you on a tour.

Since we don't know who you are we can't really help you much. So help us help you by providing more info please.

My orders always shipped quickly, and the service has always been outstanding. I even ordered an item that I could not find on their web page and got it in mere hours. Can't complain about that.

If you just cannot wait, I suggest you go out to your local brick and mortar knife store and get one from behind the glass case. No waiting, no tracking number, no having to come and post on a forum about how lousy you think the service is, and no credit card interest to pay.

Ya know, 20,000 people can walk across an intersection in one day without incident, but when ONE PERSON gets his toes ran over, he is quick to point out to everyone how dangerous the intersection is. Gotta wonder.

Charging a credit card before you have the product in hand is asking for trouble. I as a distributor can promise you any product at anytime, but with the large number of distributors and dealer direct buyers out there, shippments from manufacturers are often put on backorder. One manufacturer in particular promised me a shippment of knives on March 1, 2000 and three weeks ago when I asked when I could expect them, as I had backorder from dealers on all of the knives, he responded "What year is this?" I would hope that one is absoutley certain as the date his product is to arrive before charging an unsuspecting customer's credit card for goods that may or may not even exist.

Maybe we need to be more clear here. We bill the credit card once the product is "SECURED" from the manufacturer or distributor. Meanin that the product is in stock and on the way to us or the customer for those that we drop ship.

We don't bill every credit card order that comes in the door and then hope we can get the product.

I haven't been inside 1SKS but I have seen the building they operate out of and hubby has told me of the many many items they have in their shop - and I don't see anything wrong with charging your CC before shipping - hubby has been charged for a knife he is getting and it hasn't been shipped to date yet and that has been well over 2 weeks ago - NO it wasn't from 1SKS.

I'm not quite sure what all the hullabaloo is about here. I've had many dealings with 1SKS in the past several months and each has gone quite smoothly. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I doubt it. I've seen Mike get personally involved in tracking down a non-stocked item and deliver it well within a reasonable period of time, and I've also had Spark ask me if I could hold on the line for a second so he could run out to the "imaginary" warehouse and physically verify that a special run of a particular knife was still in stock. Sounds like pretty good customer service to me, but what do I know
