Small BG-42 regular gone...

Who is to say he did not pick up his brass???? Your assumption is that he did not. How about after 10-20 years of shooting, the area is so littered with imbedded rounds, that even if he chose to clean up after others as well as himself, it would still be a venture in futility. I live in a desert are where for the last 40, or 50 years people have gone to one spot to shoot. There is zero chance you could clean the area without large amounts of earth moving equipment. Graders, dozers, and then sift the earth. So while this thread may have been an area for your HIGH HORSE, i think you owe the OP an apology for injecting your ASSUMPTIONS on him.

My ASSumtion was you hav'n some reading comprehension skills-
Did you NOT see/read the quoted post that's in my post??
"the grass is still littered with hulls that would throw it off"
So it doesn't sound like he did, does it-----

I'm sorry if I offend anyone with my littered hulls, but let me explain. We live in the country, a farming community where our closest neighbor is a mile away. This is shooting in my back yard so I guess it's me that'll be looking at those empties. I do pick them up every few weeks though so hopefully that makes you feel better L G. I've looked a bit more but been real busy so I'm hoping to get the metal detector out tomorrow and give it a whirl. Thanks so
much for all the advice and encouragement guys! I hope I won't be part of the "lost sebenza club" for long!

Thank you for the explanation-
Not many can shoot on their own land.
Most open areas today, will be closed because of the 'slob' shooters and it's just sickening.
Wish you the best in finding the knife!

Sometimes you get so focused on where you THINK you lost it, that we fail to consider any other possibilities, like crossing a fence, or a fall, Friends house (chair/couch) on the way . I'm a lost and found club member, so I'm hoping for the Find!! Shooting ettiquite varies from place to place, so slack where possible! We police our hulls at hunts end, not real time for the most part. I know some hunts on peoples places where they don't give it a thought.Bart

I hope that you find it.
I lost one before and found it days later hanging from a pull cord for the hem of my coat.
If you wear anything like that please check it out, and the seatbelt of your truck if you had to drive to your spot; my seatbelt has picked my pocket more than once.
If it is in the field I wish you the best in finding it.

Seriously, no need to kick a guy when he's obviously down after losing a very nice knife. Save the ranting and proselytizing for elsewhere on the forum.

As a word of encouragement, at least it was lost on your private land and not a public range somewhere so you can take your time looking for it and not really worry about some Bubba picking it up and tossing it in his toolbox. It'll turn up, don't worry. And it could be time to consider a pocket sheath. They're not convenient for getting your knife out, but no clips to worry about. The knife also feels way better without the clip IMO.

And a +1 to that.

No [emoji20] I haven't been able to find it. I'm hoping to continue searching this morning but it's raining now.

Keep an open mind as to where and when it was lost. It could be a long search if you have guessed wrong, though I hope you are on the right path.

I lost a large regular somewhere in my house about 3 years ago. I looked everywhere I could think of, checked and

rechecked places where it might be. I keep spare headlight bulbs in a box for both our cars, my wife and I. I had to change

a headlight in my truck eleven months after I lost my regular. I opened the box with the headlight bulbs......I found

my knife in that box. I don't know why I would have put it in that box.......I never gave up hope tho. I knew I'd find it

somewhere.

Hang in the flyingjon....look in places you Never thought the knife might be and don't give up hope.

One of the regulars here had a thread not too long ago where he lost a Sebenza while (IIRC) gardening. He had some good pics showing how hard it was to find. You would be tempted to put a length of day-glo line on the knife if it could disappear in the weeds or leaves. :-/ I also remember reading an article on someone's web site years back in which the author argued that blue, not red or even bright orange, was the best color for many of us in terms of being able to visually ID a knife on the ground. His argument was that blue is the one color that isn't found in nature and should be most visible. Depending on the time of year, orange, red, brown, green and black can all get lost on the deck. Best luck in your hunt.

Unit is the person you are thinking of..Makes some nice lanyards btw :)

Yes I remember following his thread and I have just got inside from searching with the metal detector again. It's getting dark so I was using a good bright light hoping to get it to flash a little but... Not much hope with blasted Ti. I'm a fan of simplicity and a little old fashioned I guess because I use leather for all my lanyards so that won't help me now. [emoji20]

Just a note on the cheery side, I got my large Reg back from CRK that I bought off the exchange a while back. It came with no paperwork so I was unsure of the blade steel but they confirmed it was BG42! I'm really stoked about that. Now if I could recover its little brother I'd have a pair.....

Flashlight it anyway, from all angles. The blade might reflect.

And congrats on the Large!

Well guys, good things come to those who wait! Has been found!hey neighbor just called and said it was laying in her driveway. More details to follow later this evening when I pick it up and get home. I'm at work right now.
