yup- need a headlamp for hands free work- you have it, need a flashlight to pinpoint your light- got that covered too, best of both worlds :)

Update: Working on a hard plastic insert for the side pouch as well as a flotation device. Delivery date to me July 15th. Small change to the pack D-ring removal I felt the the webbing loops are more useful for attaching various types of field split bar style hardware and cordage slings. Also added designated loop for the optional lanyard..and tightened up the signal mirror loop.

A big thanks to you guys for the input on the design and content...

I'm interested in watching this thread at the very least.
PS, While I have fond memories of Zippo lighters, I also remember how easily they ran dry with no warning. I'd rather see a Bick Lighter, or a Firesteel of some sort. Preferably both. :)

Ageed I have learned that the zippo is not a very good option...the loop has been modded to attach a bic lighter

Here is another project I have been thinking about

Project 2: Universal sheath...would like some input on features that are important to the end user. I am thinking it needs to be somewhat discreet and ability to be adaptable to different types of gear and bags..I really like the lost mountain type sheath but it looks like they are taking a break..

I'd like to see a plain nylon sheath (with kydex insert) with rows of molle down the front and back both for multiple attachment options. That way the user can put on whatever pouches they choose, or not. I'm not sure the best way to do it but it would be nice to have some kind of adjustable retention strap that didn't involve velcro.

Somehow incorporate paracord wrapped around the sheath? I saw a version of that somewhere. Maybe here?
PS, I see my spelling of "Bic" above was incorrect. But at least you can see when the Bic is running out of fluid. Thanks. :p

These pouches are nice and could adapt to the molle..

I remember seeing mtwarden with a pic of a sheath set up like that...I like it.

all my sheaths have cordage wrapped around them :)

I agree w/ Scrapmetal's assessment on what a good "universal" sheath would look like- the kydex insert might be the tricky part, you'd want that knife specific

I'm still in if the bags become available. With all the accessories :). In regards to the sheath, I'd like to see an option for a 6" blade. If that is out if the question an insert for a 12" machete would be great. However, this would probably be too much custom work. How about making the sheath and we supply our own liner. Just a thought but in my opinion the lost mountain sheaths were fine.

I was thinking it would just ship the way Specops sheaths and/or the former LMIW sheaths did; a "universal" kydex insert that isn't molded is shipped with the sheath, possibly with different sizes for different blade thicknesses, and instructions on how to mold it to your individual knife.

Could also talk to some of the kydex benders here on the board to see if they would be willing to make inserts that were blade specific for more common models, I suppose.

if the results are acceptable, I wouldn't have a problem doing it myself- of course having a pro do it assures the results are good :)

Pick of a esee 3 in pack...

I was looking at possibly doing a paracord sling with integrated ranger beads for the pack? Has anyone seen anything like that or have any ideas on slings. I put these on it to experiment with a sling and webbing

So any ideas as to when you might get these out for sale? I really am digging this little setup! For now, I may just purchase the Maxpedition Fatty EDC Organizer to hold me over until this is ready!
