Small Fixed Blade

DW Childress neckers come up on the exchange. Nice handles and a few different steels, mostly 440C. They were the one s that got me int smaller fixed blades, not necessarily neckers but a small utility blade. Horse Wright knives too, i forget his real name, he post often and really cool horizontal carry sheaths.

Ya bet thanks for the invite Deinos Deinos . Smaller knives like this is the vast majority of what I do. I have several models under 6.5" oal. All come with a custom leather sheath designed for very active use. Here is my own personal Gordo in this pic from last weekend when we were branding our calves. Ya can see it just above my left front pocket, my wife in the blue shirt with the branding iron is wearing one too but her elbow is in the way in this shot:

Anyhoo in that price range we can do bout anything ya'd like. I work mainly in damascus or AEB-L stainless. All heat treat is done by Peters and my damascus blades run 60 RC while the AEB-L run 62. This is a Gordo with copper bolster and smooth bone handle and its horizontal carry, crossdraw Gordo sheath. The Gordo is 5 3/8" oal with a 2" blade.

I make the same knife in AEB-L and then its called the Stainless Gordo. This is the knife that both the wife and I EDC. Mine has an elk handle and hers turquoise blue jigged bone. This one is in royal blue jigged bone. It has a Slotted sheath that rides under your belt and is truly one of the only 360 degree sheath designs that can be carried anywhere on your belt. It is universal, neither right or left handed.

Pretty much these days I'll leave most of the groundwork to the more limber. Here Noah has a Slotted heath on under his belt. He is a very avid hunter by the way and uses that little knife there for about everything.

While I mostly work with natural handle materials I occasionally delve into the synthetics. Here is a Cowboy with black linen micarta scales. The Cowboy runs 6 1/2" oal with a 2 5/8" blade.

I was looking at your available knives on your site and noticed some differences listed on the blade lengths for the same model. For instance there were a few Cowboys that went from 2 3/4 to 3”. Is that an error on the product discription or does it vary? I really like the idea of a Cowboy with 3” blade, or even greater if I were to be honest.

Nope they are all individuals which is the reason for the varying sizes. I don't use any jigs in grinding except for setting the plunges. After that its all freehand so they do vary to some degree. Those measurements are for that specific knife. Lot of times too it'll depend on where I set the bolster, or plunge lines, no absolutes. Little variety keeps me sane. I do make a Cowboy Grande on occasion that would take care of that 3" plus deal ya'd have to give me a shout though its kinda one off deal.

I kind of like the cleaver style blade not exacty a cleaver but not sure exactly whats it's called.
