Small Stoves?

Thats a cool setup Guyon.
I really like my SnowPeak Giga Power. Fits in a case about 2x2x4 inches (not the can of gas of course). I wouldn't want to cook a spaghetti dinner but it gets me my morning coffee and oatmeal just fine and weighs as much as a mosquito fart (...so i've heard).

Like a bottle of roofies? :D :p

When it comes in, I'll give it a thorough test and post some info either here or in Wilderness.

Thanx bro. I look forward to it for sure. I have heard nothing but great things about it.Just havent jumped on it yet cause I have a bunch already.

ive been using a jetboil, never seen water boil so fast.

.

That is my primary:thumbup:

And I bring a MSR Pocket Rocket as a back up. The MSR works off the same fuel canisters. I can get through three-four nights out with two people on one canister of fuel.

I almost bought a Pocket Rocket a while back.

If you use up the whole canister, great. But given I usually start out trips with topped-off gear, I figured I'd wind up with a bunch of half-used canisters. That's the case with car camping and my small bottles of propane. There are probably 5 or 6 half-full bottles here right now.

Now that I've found these denatured alcohol stoves, however, it might be good to go with something like a Pocket Rocket as a primary, and then, if the canister gives up the ghost, I could use the Brasslight, or even a Super Cat as a backup.

Are those canisters recyclable? I mean, do the companies use them again sort of like propane tanks?

I just call it "Love in a Bottle" :D:thumbup::thumbup::D

As opposed to Mr. Boston 90 proof peppermint Schnapps, my buddy's wife calls that 'Anger in a Bottle.'

"What's fer supper?"
"Waa wa wa waa waa."
"I don't want that crap."

i got some trangia alchohol stoves - really cool - no tubes or moving parts - alchohol feels much better on your hands if spilled.

The smallest does not work so good - they is the windshield/support - so get their 2-person or bigger. The fire making part if the same only the windshield/support are different.

I ditched my many MSR stoves after they started acting up - leaking at various points in the tubes and connections.

I love my Esbit stove, and several years ago I jumped on a monster deal for Triox and I have enough to last a loooooong time;) This is my favorite setup for no frills, water boiling. Keep in mind, whenever using any minamalist stove an aluminum wind shield makes a tremendous improvement in burn rates.

For luxury (LOUD) camping, I would pick an MSR WL Intl., XGK, or Dragon Fly. You can feed them anyting!:D

A Bic lighter and a can of Ronsonol will ignite just about anything. Remember, I wasn't there, nobody saw me there, I didn't do anything!!

Jet Boil here. Plan on doing what Tony mentioned. Snagged a MSR Pocket Rocket or Snow Peak Giga Power stove for back up. If backpacking and a light load is needed, the MSR and Snow Peak would be the ones to pack. While the Jet Boil is Powerful, it's much heavier...

I have some MSR multi fuel stoves and white gas stoves, but sometimes (especially in mild conditions), the lightness, smallness, and ease of alcohol stoves win out. I use some pop can alcohol stoves, but my favorite little alcohol burner is the Vargo Triad.

For those of you with the Pocket Rocket, it's very easy to add a Piezo igniter to them. MSR sells just the igniter for about $10...takes about 2 mins to mod the igniter to fit the Pocket Rocket. Anyone try the Reactor system yet? Looks nice, albeit spendy...
