Small Stoves?

I'm glad you like your Pocket Rocket... I always pack it with my heavy foil wind screen that came with my Whisperlite International, it makes a real difference with this stove, it sits quite high compared to the WI, leaving it a bit more exposed. I always leave one side open though as I am scared it's going to get the cylinder too hot and it will explode !

Update:

Got the MSR combo in today and gave it a test.

I must admit that the Pocket Rocket does a good job of heating/boiling water rapidly.

I tested out the MSR Titan Kettle with 2 cups of cold water.

This little sucker puts out the BTUs (8200).

I'm still not sold on the disposable cannisters. Seems like they ought to have some way to recycle these things, just like propane tanks.

I'm glad you like the Pocket Rocket. There is this old guy at REI (like five years younger than me) and I always hunt him down for recommendations about backpacking products. That was his recommendation for a good light stove.

And 8,200 BTU is a lot. The small burner on my stove is not much more at 9.000.

I agree that you’d think that they could develop a fuel container that could be refilled. :grumpy: :grumpy:

My Clikstand arrived about a week ago and I'm impressed.

I had used a full size Trangia stove for about 18 years without a problem, but, it always seemed bit bigger than was necessary.

This flyweight version is ideal for my solo hikes and it could easily cater for two people.

:)
