The only small knife I find that I carry a lot and still like is the Kershaw Zing. I have an Orange regular and a black Tanto and they feel much bigger in hand than they look and they carry light. I primarily carry these in summer with shorts. What I like about the Zing is the blade stock thickness which helps flipper deployment, the weight is low and the FRN gripiness is vital on a small knife unlike the Cryo which is small and smooth. I also like that it's a manual flipper while the thumbs studs work very well too!
I don't understsnd why this one didn't sell enough to keep it on the available product list. IMHO, it blows the Skyline out of the water for the reasons I mention above.
I really find myself cutting through thicker stuff quite a lot. Minimum for me would be a Mini-Griptillian or Mini-ZillaTool. Both have around 3" blades. I normally carry a BM 710 & the full size ZillaTool, so it's not like I regularly pack out the Crocodile Dundee Special.
I may have another knife on me, but this one gets more use when carried, than any other knife. 3 blades have varying levels of sharpness depending on what chore I need to perform.
The spyderco dragonfly is about the smallest I'm willing to go but only for the fact that the ergos are excellent and it feels much larger than it is in hand. I carry a case peanut as well, but always in conjunction with something larger (3.5"+). Usually if I'm carrying a larger knife I carry a small knife as well. The smallest I'll go as the only knife knife I'm carrying would be the 3" range. Usually a Ritter mini or a sage 2.
I carry a large Sebenza, Umnumzaan or PM2's. 3.3" - 3.625" blade-length. I have small Sebenza, but the blade and handle are too short for my hand.

The smallest knife I ever EDC'd was a Spyderco Ladybug , which I still carry today . However now I also always carry a small fixed blade . Either the ESEE Izula or the Busse Magnum Bear Cub .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !
The smallest I used to carry was a CRKT Shrimp which is really all I ever "need" but the current smallest knife that I actually do carry is a Mike Snody Economist friction folder. I do have smaller folders but this one gets the most pocket time.
