Smallest knife that will do you...

I found that a knife shorter than 4 inches doesn't do me much good. I carried the ambitious for a while but it just didn't cut it. A longer blade will stay sharp for a longer period of time, and be much more capable of cutting my daily apple.

I need an EDC that can cut completely through my apple. I hate making multiple cuts so 3.5" is the smallest that'll work. Silly, but that's how I judge a knife.

I carried a little Benchmade Benchmite for years, until I gave it to a friend after she had a date that left her a little shaken. It was a great little knife, that no longer seems to be available unfortunately.

These days I carry an ESEE Candiru and / or Izula.

I guess it would be my mini griptilian. I'm not counting of course my LM blades and blades on VIC MiniChamp.

I want a Spyderco g10 Mabug fully serrated for cutting rough stuff, and my Case Med. Stockman for everything else. For self defense, use your fists with something in em so you don't bust your knuckles, only life or death needs a knife.

The smallest I like to go for EDC is my Sage 2 or Kershaw RAM since I like to be able to fit all my fingers on the grip and those let me in a very small pocket space. The blade size is also perfect for everything I do so I guess those are my answer.

I guess I could get by with just my keychain SAK though, but it would be less comfortable and less fun!

My Leatherman Squirt P4 or Victorinox Electrician would cover anything I need.
Small and compact but get the job done.
Of course I like carrying my big ZT 0560 or my Inron MY803 or my Spyderco Chokwe... but I don't really NEED the 3.5"+ blade, but I LIKE them and ENJOY them lol.

That's a fair judgement . . . And one that could also include consideration of the presence of thumbstuds versus a nail nick or Spyder hole. My biggest pet peeve about the BM 556 I used to have was that the thumbstuds impeded cutting an apple with one stroke because the studs rendered the last 1/2' of blade useless to get through an apple without a "three point turn" if you will ;)

At work or after? I carry a (USA) Schrade 180T after work right now. It's prolly smaller than a peanut. It's easy to always drop in my pocket and I can pretty much use it anywhere. At work it's a variety of bigger knives.

I have the tinniest red 2 bladed SAK that they make. It has been in my tool box for years, is half grey from grease, and is a handy little item in there.
