Smallest knife that will do you...

Case Peanut and Vic Classic works for me also. But then,I usually carry my small necker that Charlie Mike made for me,along with the other two mentioned.

I have carried a Buck 309 "Companion" (3'' closed, 2'' main blade) since 1977. For the first 10 years, it was all i carried, except when deer hunting. It cleaned a pick-up load of birds, rabbits and fish. I used it for every thing i needed a knife for. I started carrying a Victorinox "Tinker" for the tools also. I then also started carrying various one hand openers. I now carry a Delica 3, the Tinker, and the Companion. The Companion gets used 99% of the time. I have had people question "what do you do with that little thing"? A friend of mine quite frequently informs them that it is my pocket scalpel. regards Henry

I sometimes carry a Victorinox Stylus that is smaller, but the blade feels flimsy and weak by comparison; I carry it for the stylus tool only.

Is that a tiny firesteel in that sheath?

The least I would get by with would be my Victorinox Executive. IMO, it's really a great knife, I've been carrying it since the late 1990s. For a while, I had carried a Vic Classic as my "little knife", but favor the size and more solid feel of the Exec. Even the Exec's small blade (which is smaller than the Classic's) feels more solid during use.

If it were the smallest multi-tool, I'd choose my Micra.

When I lived in Taiwan in the '80s and early '90s, and after that, the only knife I carried was an older-style Victorinox Spartan that did not have the toothpick/tweezers. It handled whatever I needed of a knife.

As far as the smallest single-blade folder, for me it would either be my SE Dragonfly 2 Salt, or a Ladybug.

For me the smallest that seems to meet my needs is the Kershaw Scallion at 2-1/4"... I've tried 2" and find it too little. Even the Scallion can be a challenge sometimes.

Cutting large blocks of cheese, melon, fresh bread... Lunch things make it a bit of a challenge. And I find it just as obtrusivein my pocket as some thing like a Boa or a BM 710 so I'd just as soon carry them.

One of my Spyderco Engraved Kris Knives and one of my Engraved Spyderco Persians ~~ I know that makes two knives but I could not keep one and not one of the others as they just go together.!**

Usually I carry few blades with largest 3.5" blade length. Most likely I will be able accomplish most of my tasks with Kopa or Moki Glory with 2.5" blades, but I will have to give up on my apple eating habit. :grumpy:

If I need to go classy/small, my Spyderco Kopa (cocobolo) is plenty knife to get the job done. Small blade, but capable, yet doesn't feel too small in the hand. I also typically carry a traditional slipjoint with a primary blade of only 2" or so, sometimes less (like a stockman), with other blades being much shorter. I just don't find many things these days that require a longer blade, except perhaps an apple.

A Victorinox Bantam works for my EDC tasks very well. For EDC i find that most SAK's have too many tools that are not used. In an outdoors situation i can see have a larger SAK (I use the Hiker) but in EDC it seems like over kill. It cuts through clam packs and other hard things like butter.

Is that a tiny firesteel in that sheath?

That's the release for the sheath, which is spring-loaded. The late Blackie Collins developed that, and called it the Thumbolt. AGR has 3 different knives on this pattern with that sheath.

I'm usually packing a bigger blade in size's ranging from a CS Spartan on down to a Strider PT but i always have at least one of these little guys on me as well + the Vic Waiter on my keys.

What is that little friction folder? Looks like something that would be nice to add to my UK legal carry stash.

Thats a custom by Brian Fellhoelter, its made of S35VN and carbon fiber. Great little knife with a handy bottle opener.

I always EDC a SAK. And lately most days a Spyderco Persistance which does me just fine for anything I need an EDC for.

I've been pleased with this thin single-springed Conductor from Tidioute. Despite the nominal dimension quoted in this borrowed pic from GEC's website (camera's out of the house), my knife measures only 3 5/16" closed, yet the main blade is a handy 2 9/16". Throw in the nice pen, and there is a lot of cutting edge in this petite package. Not much larger than some peanuts I've owned, but a much more grippable handle.
