I think I may have a 'Small' fixed blade problem ;) they are just so handy. In this photo only a couple might extend over 4" but the majority of them are 3.5" or less.

Right now this is what my collection of fixed blades consists of, more than I want to have but I really like every one, even that holiday printed one, it's handy for opening packages.

I love short fixed blades, especially when camping. Mors Kochanski suggested that an everyday outdoor work knife should have a blade length about the width of your palm. Bigger knives for the big stuff, but he did most of his basic tasks using a small-blade knife, such as a simple 3"-4" Mora attached to a neck cord (cheap handles, but great blades). For the outdoor types, read his book Northern Bushcraft (lots of great pix). It's a must-have resource, along with a few others.

I've got, well, a lot of smaller fixed blades, mostly because I have a 4" carry limit...

I’m right there with you. Just picked up an Edge Knife Works kwaiken prototype from the owner himself. But I think I need another…like the bottom one in the picture. Looks like a Spyderco Shaman
