How are you liking Heimo's UHC steel?

Hello. I've had several Roselli knives over the last maybe 10 years. Both "regular" and UHC.
I've liked them very much. In my opinion, they were a really good knife for the money. For some reason, I've always ended up gifting them to friends and family.
Over the last couple of years, the prices have increased, so I'll probably keep this one, lol

As for the UHC, I've tried to take new knives and put them on diamond stones with passes over the entire Scandinavian single zero bevels to get them closer to true scandi/zero grinds.
I haven't had any problems with the hardness causing chipping. Maybe due to getting the factory edge worked down enough to "perhaps" eliminate an over heated apex due to factory sharpening.

But, I also do use it as intended, so no massive shock or torque.
Best regards and God Bless

I keep buying small bladed fixed knives, but I rarely ever use one. The biggest problem I have with little knives is the tiny handles.
You sir, are in luck!
As we have a lot of custom makers on the forum that could take a sketch of your ideal knife and make it for you at a reasonable cost

Fine Print: Your idea of 'reasonable cost' and the maker's definition of 'reasonable cost' may vary. Also some makers may not wish to take custom orders, but, it never hurts to ask!

I find 2.5" to 3.5" blade length to be a sweet spot for me as well! I do different handle lengths and thickness because everyone's hand is different.

Some I skip the handle scales altogether! LOL. Just under 7" OAL, around .165" or so thick.

Little MBBO with blue burlap, around 2.5" edge, 6.75" OAL, close to the ones above size wise:

Or it's bigger FBBO brother, around 3" edge and 7 5/8" OAL:

Sometimes I push things a bit, too! 1/16" thick Magnacut compared to a Bugout. Really weights the belt down at 2.2 oz!

Only problem is it's easy to lose...can't remember where I put it? Going to try to find it when I get home today.

you have no idea of how many knives I have commissioned from craftsmen here. lol I just picked up a fantastic kitchen knife two weeks ago. :)

Very cool!

I only mentioned it as you were lamenting the fact that small blades often have small handles and asking for one per your design might solve the problem.

Here is one you don’t see much but I like a lot, is my Blind Horse Maverick Colt in 01. This is one I will never sell as they come from when I first discovered the knives of Blindhorse knives. I really got interested in small fixies after seeing a lot of DW Childress’s work too.image.jpg

Don’t forget about Anza, in the first pic I have a small one a friend gave me a long time ago, finely trying to put an edge on it myself…still working on my skills…but it is a fun size. Also a small one next to my RAT 3. Finally Anza drop point next a drop point 112.image.jpgIMG_0827.jpegIMG_0640.jpegIMG_0639.jpegIMG_0827.jpeg
