SMoke and prayers for a girl I know...

The story has made the news as far away as Detroit, MI. Heard it this morning on the news radio station. Still praying and hoping for the best C.

I was watching it on the news this morning here in NH. I hope the national attention puts pressure on the abductor to let the poor girl go.

Here's still hoping she makes it home safely.

I just saw this a few minutes ago on the local news here in NY, I have 2 daughters close to her age and every time I see something like this it makes me sick.
I hope they find this young woman unharmed.

A lot of the details of the evidence, leads, suspect, search etc. are being held close to the vest just now on the possibility that the unsub might be able to monitor TV and radio news. Even with storms rolling through and cool weather, additional searchers continue to roll in. My daughter's truck just left out with a friend's horse trailer and another friend's horse, a (young, fit) male friend joining the search. It is very confusing with the leaks from friends involved in the search and the Law Enforcement agencies changing stories and denying rumors. I would be well advised to not say all that is known at this time. I went to a neighboring town this morning and pink ribbons and flyers with Holly's picture are everywhere there, just as they are here. If you don't live in a small rural community, you cannot imagine the toll this incident is taking, or the veritable army of concerned citizens that has mobilized. Nearly one thousand men signed up for the ground search last I heard.

I fear the worst, shes a pretty girl, im sorry to read about this Codger.

If there is a god, hope he's on this one.

I read about this a few days ago.
Didn't know it was your hood Codger:(
Smoke sent 2016 miles to the east....

The reward fund by Friday afternoon had grown to well over $30,000 with an anonymous donation from a local businessman of $5,000. I assure you that few if any of these volunteers are out there looking for the reward though. Over a thousand volunteers are scouring the woods including my daughter who took off before daylight without waking me. School buses are transporting the people searching on foot. Individuals are providing a flood of food and supplies to the fairgrounds, like the local nurse who showed up with ten bags of ice and twelve sacks of groceries to feed the searchers. TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) has been added to the list of State agencies providing logistical help and transport. Local news right now, churches are reporting they are now emptying, the men joining in the search and women to the fairgrounds to support the effort. At this rate, the number of searchers today will surpass the 1,500 signed up yesterday. Natchez Trace State Park Rangers report 300-350 searchers now searching that park.

I have a feeling this was planned out well and the abductor, had a place to take her. Maybe not too far away. She could be in a house nearby and I hope she's found very soon.
It makes me sad this happened to her and sad there's people that would carry out such a terrible crime, against an innocent young girl. I'm keeping up with the story and I keep wishing for good news.

The reward fund now stands at $75,000 with an announcement by the Governor. The ATV Search gas fund at a local gas station is over $800. My daughter joined the searh teams yesterday and today. Jackson Tennessee station WBBJ news anchor Will Nunley is conduction a continuous news feed from the fairgrounds via twitter. Our game officers are manning boats and divers have been called in, not on any solid lead, but to rule those areas out (ponds, small lakes and the nearby Tennessee River). Natchez Trace is being re-searched today. I'm on my way to the search command center now...

Aaaannnd... safe I am. I just delivered a Falcon load of two-liter drinks to the volunteer center. The law enforcement command center is being moved to our National Guard Armory shortly and the volunteer effort is remaining based at the fairgrounds which is packed. Not only to give them more room, but to stop speculators from overhearing conversations and misrepeating them. The rumor mill has been working overtime. I cannot join the foot search and today there is a lack of extra ATVs and horses available. Everyone is doing what they can according to their abilities.

prayers on the way. this sucks.

Thanks. "Sucks" doesn't begin to cover it. Another 800 searchers (short of the 1,500 requested) went out today with more needed for tomorrow and Easter Sunday.

I just returned from the Fairgriounds again delivering food for the searchers. I can't help but think that it is a recovery operation now, not rescue. But people are still pouring in. A Marine Sgt. from Cinncinatti just left. He had taken his leave days to join the search and has been out every day for the past five.

My daughter and I have to work, but a part of her work is caring for the search dogs, so she does keep up with what is going on, as well as any of us can.

Again I stress, we are not hunting suspects, just clues and the young lady herself. For this reason, LEO has not released any sketches or suspect identities, only Holly's pictures.

Wednesday night they held a candlelight prayer vigil at the Fairgrounds auditorium. A severe thunderstorm rolled in just as "Amazing Grace" was being sung. The 3,000 participants didn't miss a beat as the power failed.

PS: The pink ribbon in my current avitar is for Holly. And Hope.

A K-9 search group is headed this way from Kentucky. Their dogs have an array of skills from cadaver, air scent, etc. This adds to the dogs from Georgia and several other states that have been here all week.

Prayers. I get chills reading this, more so when there's a face to the victim.

Imagine that you know her voice and laugh. Anyone who would like to is invited to attend a special sunrise service this Sunday morning at the Fairground Auditorium prior to the beginning of the day's search. Many churches will be cancelling their own traditional Easter services and attending in mass and will leave directly from there on buses to assigned search areas. If I can find a horse or ATV I will be with them.

Your presence and help would be most welcome.

I am worn to a frazzle. I come home from work and spend the evening looking for news updates. And fighting rumors and fending off gross insults from trolls.

For instance it was announced today that a new team of search dogs is on their way from Kentucky. And a dufus from Cali says:
Way to wait to the last minute. LE has their thumb up they're ass waiting for the community to solve the case for them and they don't even take the proper steps. Those dogs should've been brought in BEFORE the massive foot search. Between 2200 feet stomping around and 2 storms , they're just bringing the dogs for show now

Hmmpf. To which I say:
This is what happens when you come in to a "story" eight days late. I can tell you that search dogs have been on the case from the first day, and every day since. The dogs being brought in from Kentucky are just augmenting the ones already here and the ones plumb worn out. You have NO IDEA what toll twelve hours of searching these woods and thickets, day after day, takes on both dogs and handlers. There is a limit to the endurance of both. Have you ever handled bloodhounds on a search? I have. I've trained and handled several very good bloodhounds. And the best of them will wear a young, fit man to a frazzle in short order.

The dogs are not being brought in behind the foot searchers. The dogs and their handlers are working other specific areas of interest. Not all search dogs are trained or capable of the same tasks. It makes sense to bring in cadaver dogs this far into the search, as much as we here all hope and pray that they find nothing.

By the way, search volunteers are needed tomorrow and Sunday. Step away from the computer and come help. Your contribution will be appreciated by the family, friends, community and law enforcement. Or... you can sit there at your keyboard with your thumb... Nah.

Some wonderful trolls are calling us "inbred hillbilly river rats" and worse. That kind of crap I ignore. But I am proud of our community and how they have come together when the chips are down. And then my explanation of the search dog situation draws this resopnse:

Thanks localdad for that lesson on k9 theory. We aren't all stupid. Obviously twelve hours will take its toll on dogs and handlers. If you're as good as your post suggests, why is she still missing? Everyone is an expert behind that computer screen. Geez

No, I shouldn't reply to that troll. But:
Geeze. It isn't "K9 therory". It is cold hard fact which some people here obviously are unaware of. Being "good" as a trainer and handler does not assure success in any particular search. The teams working here now come from all over the nation and many have an astounding record of successes. All have experienced failure. Not theory, fact. You cannot find what is not there even with the best dogs.

Where are you going to be this weekend Lori anne? What great contribution are you planning to make to humanity? Are you on your way here with your search dog? Do you think you are doing anything constructive to help find Holly or any missing person?

Hard as it may be to do Michael, try to take a short break and get some rest... don't forget to take care of yourself, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Unfortunately I am not amazed at your exchange with "Lori anne'. Some people just don't have a heart.

My "90% Rule" is proved almost every day; "90% of the people you interact with every day, are either stupid, ignorant, or they just don't give a damn."

I thank God for the other 10% like yourself and all of those who are helping to find Holly. My continued prayers.

Smoke and prayers sent from Michigan. May swift rescue come for this poor girl. And may harsh, crippling, justice find her assailant.
