Smoke Jumper

when I ordered the 2nd time i was not even sure my order would be cancelled or not then it is out of stock before i received shipping confirmation. that is bad service
So...
1. You ordered knife and were told by SK can’t ship to Australia
2. You ordered knife again and SK spent his time working out the problems to get it to you, did the extra work to send international and eventually got you the knife you wanted at a reasonable price and timely manner given the problems to overcome.
3. SK runs out of knives to sell because they are a great value and big hit with users
4. You tell everyone SK has bad customer service
5. SK reaches out to you to try and satisfy you.
I totally understand your frustration, but still can’t see the bad service?? Some dealers won’t answer a call or email, send you the wrong item or number of items and refuse to fix it, some dealers will just straight up cheat you. That is bad service!
We will just have to agree to disagree and move on.
I’m glad you got a Smoke Jumper, I hope it gives you great performance and please share some pictures of your SJ in use in Australia!

i wish to sum up my complaint. here are the points i tried to make
1. i accept shipping policy of the seller : but i was able to check out successfully for my first order that mean shipping to australia allowed > then the email update cancelled my order.
2. subscribed email notified 14 items remaining but NOT CHANGE in shipping policy

both these points stopped me from having a choice of ordering more
you might say i should order more than 1 when there are 14 remaining

1. i could not order more than 1 because i am unsure i will like the item
2. when i order the 2nd time and check out successfully i did not know whether my order would be cancelled

i read great reviews from the forum about SKblades. i am happy i got one smoke jumper. my point is that hoping not to miss next budget deal from seller .
Your point was to Black ball SK. Stating poor customer service over a hiccup in your transaction. Which Stephen is clearly trying to resolve. Hopefully your 40 dollar knife is perfect. There may be some serious bad press otherwise.

I agree if you wanted more than one you should have bought it with the first one. Regardless if you were unsure they have been selling like hot cakes. Customer service had nothing to do with it and honestly your posts and the last few including mine don't belong in this thread.. They belong in the feedback thread. You dragged your feet and they sold out. But hey their will be more down the road. The guy actually went out of his way to ship to Australia, which he DOES NOT do normally.

These type of posts about his customer service lacking because he was trying to please more customers is a little rediculous. It would make me and my business refuse to deal with international shipping because you can't please the customer even if you do go out of your way to ship them the knife for little to no markup. What's the incentive to do so? To get negative posts about customer service on a forum that your a member of and frequent often.

The knife was 38 bucks plus 15 to ship. If you would have bought the other then you would have saved on shipping as well. You. Could always got most of your money back and in this case all of it if you bought it then.

Chock it up to lessons learned. If you can buy a buck 110 with premium steel for under 40 bucks you better get it while you can.

Well this is only my second day of ownership and I’ve made a few conclusions on the Smoke Jumper.

1. The “snap” it makes during opening is highly satisfying.
2. I am really fond of the low weight. Even the sheath weighs next to nothing.
3. The CPM-154 Steel is a great choice for this set up.
4. The stonewash looks good with the red handle.
5. The red handle will be easy to see if dropped.
6. This knife has a nice neutral balance point. It’s not really blade heavy or handle heavy. It’s right where your middle finger grips.
7. I should have ordered more! My wife and kids love this package. My better half is very hard on her knives and goes through them pretty quick. She loves how light this is but still has the full blade size of a 110.

Cleaned up the edge and tip, then knocked off the nub.

The steel responded well to a K80 King stone.

Has anyone mentioned how light this is yet?

It's a very nice blade I took that nub off too  I had a friend say if it wasn't plastic he'd get one :p I told him this knife is probably tougher than the heavier 110 . Would love to durability test between Brass and Plastic but I can't afford to do it :D

It would be neat to see a comparison...this knife has given me an interest in the LW version now that I’ve held the SJ.

How are you knocking off the nub? Just rubbing it off on a sharpening stone? Can you show a pic of the spine?

Opened the knife halfway to expose the lock bar, then slowly ran it over a file until the nub was gone.

After that, I used a K80 King water stone starting with the 250 grit and finishing with the 1000 grit. It’s not perfectly blended but I only took a couple of minutes. If you go slow you could probably do a better job than I did.5E3174AB-EEE8-4C0A-B30E-CDAD78633437.jpeg89E2FD94-A90E-4422-AFE7-A9091972F51F.jpeg

Great work thanks for the pics. I was thinking of trying to remove the nub also, but didnt want to mess up the handle. It never occurred to me to just open the knife part way. Duh, so simple yet I didn't see it. Thanks

Jumper says he’s ready for Florence when she hits Charlotte, after living through Hugo, I’m not sure I’m ready! Let’s hope for the best and thoughts and prayers go out for the poor people in the Eastern Carolinas that have been hit so hard!
good luck to y'all. wind shouldn't be too bad, more water flooding etc. so make sure to stay high and dry. been through many hurricanes. first one was David in s. florida back in 79 as a kid. many more since then.

F0756640-685E-48BD-A2B6-B930C5BFED18.jpeg Interesting comparison, I know it’s apples to oranges, but I always thought the 110 was a big knife and the PM2 a medium knife...actually maybe 1/16” difference longer for the SJ. 3.2 oz vs. 3.6, SJ is lighter. CPM S30V (standard model) vs CPM 154, I’m preferring 154 so far. Last but not least $136 vs $38. The light weight makes the Jumper seem smaller than it is. I like both knives, but if you’re on a budget you might consider the SJ. Again, no disrespect to other brands, just an observation.

So ... I gotta ask ...
Has anyone else who EDC's a 110 switched from a "regular" brass and wood 110 to the Smoke Jumper for their EDC?

Since I got my Smoke Jumper a couple months ago, I've only carried the brass and wood maybe 3 or 4 days. The Smoke Jumper has been on my belt the rest of the time.
