My mom just called asking for my lawyer's number. My brother is in the hospital right now. He he wrecked his car. There is a cop questioning him and he is under arrest. This leads me to believe he was under the influence. If so, this will be his second DUI, the first one was in November 09. I don't know if he hit anybody or if it was a tree, lightpole, whatever. To make matters worse, he is scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant at Stanford for his Hodgkins. Please send smoke and good thoughts to Mike Freeman and any possible other injured parties.
 
Update... I just found out he killed someone...

He was drinking... in adddition to the pain meds he takes for his cancer.
 
Im sorry for the person he killed. He had no business being behind the wheel drunk and possibly stoned. 1st degree manslaughter he is looking at 15 years minimum. My sympathies to your mom and yourself and your family. Your brother however has do deal with his actions and I cannot squeak out an ounce of pity for him.

I agree 100%. It's very hard for me to agree but you are right. Makes me think of all the times I could have done the same. When I got my DUI, it scared me sober for 6 months. I learned never ever get behind the wheel on anything. I'm still in shock I think.

Its a terrible situation and your bro is going to pay big time. There are no winners in this situation. It all ends bad. Probably screwed the pooch on a the bone marrow TP also...

I could see where you would still be in shock....

Smoke for you, your mom, and the family of the person that was killed.
 
It's hard to watch a sibling destroy their life, and the lives of others. Smoke to you and your parents, and of course for the family of the deceased.

I hate to say it, but I always figured I was the one who'd prolly end up in prison. My little brother was the "good" kid. I don't know the victim, but I am so sorry for my brother.
 
It's always sad to here that more innocent people may have been murdered by another drunk driver. I hope that's not the case.

Bad situation all around, CM. My thoughts are with all involved. Stay there for your Mom. Prayers for the victim's family.

Six months isn't a long time. Maybe you should reflect on the idea that there's a bigger lesson for you to learn. But for the Grace of God....

sorry to hear of this, for all parties involved.

from a legal perspective, he deserves to be in prison.

from a familial perspective, he's still your brother, he will need your continued support.
 
Prayers sent to your mom, you, and the victims family. Your brother has a date with destiny. Incarceration is the best place for him Matt. This is not his first, I was there with you for the last one.
