Smoky Mountain Knife Works

The logo for Chase was designed for Chase Manhattan Bank by the noted Nazi sympathizers () Chermayeff & Geismar based on Japanese chests ("mons"). It was introduced in 1961. I have looked and looked, but I can't see a swastika.
That's because you don't BELIEVE. You have to BELIEVE.

There's nothing like ignorance to help one see something that's not there. Yes, if you want you can see a swastika in Chase's logo. (Connect the vertical and horizontal thin white lines through the center of the logo.) But then, if you knew anything about swastikas, you'd have to theorize that Chase was some kind of Hindu conspiracy, because Nazi swastikas are properly canted 45 degrees and are nearly always right-facing. Here are there references:

Swastika (Wikipedia), particularly As the symbol of Nazism, and Nazi Germany.

Then again: Maybe the Hindus and all those other cultures are Nazi conspiracies? Or maybe Chase is just being subtly clever?

But the research was fruitful in other ways.
Thanks for the laugh, TL! :)

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned The Illuminati yet!

As for SMKW and their selling of Nazi-wannabe paraphernalia: I'm going to have to side with the OP on this one: I think I'm going to tend to stay away from somebody who'd sell that kinda crap just to make a buck :barf:

No. Of course he may have decided to do that, but he couldn't have done it.

Actually, I think you helped me. I'm not kidding. I could be wrong. Maybe it was a slightly different username or something, but I'm quite certain that this was not the first thread I started on this forum. Oh well.

If I helped you it was by explaining there's no need to "cancel" your account; if you don't want to come here any more just don't. :)

I have no problem with real historic Nazi items or for that matter Japanese war relics. No one ever seems to remembers the thousands of Chinese they murdered.
The knifes Keven Pipes is selling here are not anything but offensive.
I also heard a while back that he is the one that bought the Old Timer name and started pimping it out of China.I still stop in SMKWs but there isn't much there anymore unless you are into the fantasy crap stuff.

I've never cared a lot for SMKW. They just always seemed they'd sell anything they could make a buck on.
They have a nice place and I've shopped there a few times on my way to the Blue Ridge Parkway, but I didn't find the staff to be very friendly and the way they stand constantly watching you, like you are up to something didn't help.
If you buy anything they put it in a basket and take it to the front, until you are ready to leave. Only when the cash is handed over is it handed over and you have to leave.
I guess this shouldn't bother me, but I'm the sort that will go to the gas station that trusts you to pump your gas and walk in and pay, myself. Not the one that requires you to come in pay first then pump. (yes we have both in my area, a lot more you don't have to pay first)

Thanks for the info. I'll be sending SMKW a letter and shopping elsewhere for a while.

That is not true. The Schrade trademarks and brand names were purchased during the bankruptcy sale by Taylor Brands, LLC. http://www.taylorbrandsllc.com/ Taylor's products are available at SMKW, as well as most other knife dealers.

I hope everyone's having a pleasant-enough holiday and/or break/vacation. Just wondering if anyone has decided to contact SMKW.

I did before my first post. They didn't bother responding.

Bought a knife from someone I thought was a private seller turns out it was them they said all I had to do was call and they would help me out with credit for my last purchase which they did not have they bait you in then have you go off eBay site and then jerk you around
