Smoky Mountain Knife Works

Lets talk about ford for a moment shall we.

In 1920 henry ford published an anti-jewish book titled The International Jew. hilter copied liberally from fords writing and used it in his book mein kampf. hitler referred to ford as "one great man"

Ford became an admirer of hitler and provided funds for the nazis and in 1938 became the first American to receive the highest honor possible for a non-german: the grand cross of the supreme order of the german eagle.

Oh, I see. So your problem isn't with companies that were behind killing Jews, but with a company that sells a cheap ass knife. I see where you stand.

This statement, by hotrodKelly, my friends is a classic example of the "straw man fallacy" also known as the "straw man argument."

I will suggest that hotrodKelly is feebly attempting to dissuade attention from the fact that a business is currently selling racist merchandise.

In regard to SMKW, I do not think the company should be selling the knives in question and will express my viewpoint by not doing business with the company. That's how I feel about it. Now the question for hotrodKelly is why don't you feel the same way?

fords son edsel sat on the board of American i g farben. Know what i g chemical made? Anyone?

You are all offended over a swastika on a knife, but not offended with the people/corporations that backed the machine, that allowed this to happen in the first place.

I've researched this type of info for a few years now. Its quite disturbing. And when you try to tell people, especially Americans, (not you) because of there arrogance, or stupidity, or both, they just refuse to believe anything like this. Its quite sad actually.

Those who refuse to understand history, are doomed to repeat it. I think this is how the quote goes....

Tinfoil Hat

(words and music by Caroline Glass)

Calls I do not recognize
On my telephone bill
Message in a bottle
From a little white pill

Corruption, abduction
I don’t have to look far
Every morning something weird
Goes on in my front yard

Last week they got my goat
And replaced it with a clone
I gave money to PETA
And the CIA tapped my phone
They’ve been calling after business hours
Trying to sell me crack
But I’m not worried ‘bout it, baby
Cause I’ve got a tinfoil hat

Six jars of lucky pennies in the closet
Retrieved from the bottom of the fountain in the mall
UFOs fly holes in the ozone layer
Polar ice caps melt to reveal a buried treasure
Is reality such a big conspiracy? Think too hard,
And I cant tell whats what anymore
And so its easier to ignore

I dont buy anything from SMKW. So I'm not supporting them in selling/not selling, anything. And neither do you.

Straw man huh? You go boy. Stand up. Ban that horrible SMKW while you drive your ford, bank at chase, and watch jeff gordon drive his dupont car.

A notorious (around here) lunatic conspiracy theorist is trying to hijack this thread with a lot of irrelevant nonsense. I doubt speaking to him would accomplish anything, especially since I'm not a moderator here any more, but I'd like to make a suggestion to everyone else: let him rave. If you feel moved to respond to his ravings do it on a more appropriate forum, or in email.

I really miss you as a mod. You were at least somewhat more intelligent

No, but chase has it as their logo.

Learn your history. The Swastika was used thousands of years prior to the Nazi Party.

However, putting it in red and black trim, ala Nazi propaganda, makes it a symbol of bigotry. Chase/Manhattan does NOT do this.

Your comparison is illogical.

Thanks. learn to read my posts. I'll let SMKW know that they should have their supplier make the logo in blue, then it wont be offensive.

I like SMKW. There prices are reasonable. I know I can do better if I looked elsewhere through a retailer with no physical presence. But I prefer to support a company that has such a large store where people can browse for hours. There staff seems friendly as well. I remember buying some Mora's, an Opinel, and a Pirate sword earlier this October. My first time visiting. It was an awesome experience and I can't wait to go back. Oh and the pirate sword wasn't real. At least I don't think it was? Yes how could it be? Well it was made in China so maybe............It's an authentic mall pirate sword:p And it looked great with my costume:D Which is what I care about. Looking great, feeling great, and eating good food.................................I'm sure there was a point in my post I just forgot what it was......Oh yeah. Pirate Costumes Kick @ss:thumbup:

"Hotrod" - I just finished reading the rest. You're definitely not worth having any debate with.

Act like we never talked.

Yes, straw man fallacy without a doubt. So just to be clear...you do not approve of SMKW selling merchandise of a racist nature. I assume that is correct.

"Boycott" is a more appropriate term to use than "ban".

I never visit the political forum but the points you make seem more suited to that arena than GB&U.

Please...be careful of using the term "boy", your intentions could be misinterpreted.

Does this mean you find the current moderators to be unintelligent? I find them to be not only intelligent but such fine communicators it makes me jealous of their ability.

henry ford was an industrial genius and a notorious anti-semite.

public pressure as far back as the twenties made him apologize for some of his views and restrained his public racism to some degree. private notes indicate that he remained racist and was quite paranoid by the end.

his son was on the board of AMERICAN IG farben. many US companies had significant financial interests in germany and vice-versa. US owned auto plants were converted under pressure form the nazis to war production. this was unfortunate and regrettable. for most corporations it was the preservation of their significant investment that led them to cooperation, not agreement with the ideology. it was the wrong choice then and would be the wrong choice now.

starting with henry ford 2, the ford family has disavowed the views of the founder of the firm and has been proactive in their relationship with the Jewish community

hahaha

The Super Sport didn't appear till 1961.

Fund Hitlers war machine??

A relative had a 50's Corvette (West Point Cadet no less, what do you think that car was good for?) that sported SS logo's if I remember correctly, maybe '57 or '58, but your right I don't think there was anything "Super Sport" earlier.

Somehow I don't think my white, two door '63 Impala SS (black interior, buckets, floor shift, pushbutton radio) had anything to do with with Hitlers war machine. Now the neighbors 50's VW bug (and he was decorated 101st in Bastogne) must have had something to do with the war machine.

The logo for Chase was designed for Chase Manhattan Bank by the noted Nazi sympathizers () Chermayeff & Geismar based on Japanese chests ("mons"). It was introduced in 1961. I have looked and looked, but I can't see a swastika.

But the research was fruitful in other ways.

Did you know that if you extract key letters from the Gettyburg Address they spell out "I hate God"?

Did you know that if you superimpose a second pyramid upside down over the existing pyramid on the $1 bill, they form the Star of David? After all, it's a polyhedron, and we KNOW about those!!!!
