That's something I haven't been able to do with my kids this year :( its just too cold to be enjoyable here. If we had temps from like 0--10c with no windchill.. I'd be all for it... but when it dips to minus double digits + windchill, nobody has fun.

That hill don't look to steep, but it sure is a long run!

What goes well with about an inch of sleet/ice?

A kickass hill (link to video).

A hot chocolate kit.

And a good fire. This fire is brought to you by Ignito-O, official combustible of Wayne Whittaker. Endorsed by tradewater.

That video reminds me of being a kid, sledding. We used to go about as much as we could during the winter.

What pouch is that on the far right of your hot chocolate kit?

Looks like an awesome combination!

The first one we hit was steep as all get-out, but it ended in a patch of brush/trees and a fence. The kids would bail out before they got to the rough stuff, but then my daughter stopped ejecting in time. I sought another hill before we had an ER visit. The hill in the video was still a little mushy, but it'll be a solid sheet of ice in the morning. I bet I can send them all the way across that field. :D

Dubz, that's a Maxped holster for cell phones, walkie talkies, etc. I used to use it for my Garmin GPS, but lately, I don't track my hikes as much, and we didn't need GPS for a hot-chocolate sledding run.

Don't forget the camera! Distance record ahoy!

Or, you could always go back to the previous hill... remember to make a video... maybe send it to AFV and win some cash ;)

Nice looking rig, the whole deal.

My first trip to the dentist occurred today. The experience went better than I thought.

I need a new Becker to celebrate not howling in pain.

Here she is, failing to bail. :p

It's got a Stanley 1L thermos in the middle and, on the sides, four of those green plastic cups that come with the little Stanley cook pots (two each side). First aid in the front pouch.

The only thing missing is you yelling to her to 'BAIL OUT' and it would money lol!

If they had small camera's when we were kids, oh the video's that we would have! We used to go down into forest like that and try to dodge the trees! or forge a path through until we hit a tree, then the next person would follow it until we got further, and further until we made it through lol.

Or build a jump so high you could scale the public park bike pathway, and the attempts that followed haha.

Oh memories!

She'd been coached pretty well. Either she got preoccupied, or more likely with this one, she decided she could just ride through the chain link fence down at the end.

Well, we wound up with the third heaviest snowfall on record. A tad over 13 inches and the county is under a 8 to 5 curfew to keep from having to rescue idiots.

We were right on the edge of that same system. We just ended getting a few inches.

Nice. Too bad there's all that grass, hehe. My kids were trying to sled yesterday but they kept sinking into about 3 feet of it and not going anywhere fast. When I was growing up in Rochester, NY we used to pack it down and make these ridiculous bobsled runs. Make a banked turn to avoid the neighbor's tree, then have to build it higher and higher to contain the high-G forces of turning a red sled 90° at 30 mph. Launched a few kids into low earth orbit. Looks like a "wicked pissah" as we say here (means "lots of fun", as in "we laughed so hard we peed in our pants"). If it stops snowing here for a dang minute Imma try and get the kids to build one from our yard to the neighbors - we have a mighty steep (but short) side yard that comes to an abrupt halt in the trees. If you have any big truck inner tubes around, or boating toys, take them with next time. Inner tubes are insane fast and really difficult to steer, making for excellent video footage.
