Bourbon Barrel Stout is the best liquid I've ever hung a lip over. Put that in your tail pipe and throw it in neutral.

I've not had that particular beer, but I've had other barrel aged stouts and I'll agree they are delicious. I think Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island has been my favorite so far.

Which brewery makes the one you speak of? I'm not sure I've ever seen it around here.

Searched the database, but no luck.
Whats the sizes of the fasteners that come with the BK-14 zytel handles?

It's Bluegrass Brewing Company (Louisville, KY).
I didn't realize it, but Bourbon Barrel Stout must be a specialty offering we might not see again for a while.
Apparently, they rotate their bourbon barrel offerings. http://www.bbcbrew.com/bbc-specialty-beers/

Road trip to Louisville, tradewater?

I am pleased to return and see I inadvertently started a booze-off. My first post still wins though. Johnny Walker Black always wins.

I like Scotch, but I'm partial to Speyside single malts like Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. Some of that Highland and Islay whisky is so peaty it takes an acquired palate.
I still buy Jack and George because... well... it's a Tennessee thing. I'm both a Squire and a member of the Water Conservation Society.
Lately though, I'm drawn to good bourbon beyond anything else. I'm really enjoying the Colonel Taylor offerings I've gotten recently.
I'm also exploring rye whiskey and so far have sampled Van Winkle, Knob Creek, Colonel Taylor, and Bulleit.

I toured the Maker's Mark distillery a few years ago. The aroma was incredible, but since it's in a dry county you couldn't buy it or even taste it. Weird isn't it.

people are crazy.

Christine and I have toured Woodford and Four Roses. A lot of fun seeing the process.
We are down in Lexington about twice a year. Where the heck are you based Trade?

True story.

Speaking of Woodford Reserve, what is the general opinion of the stuff by you knowledgeable imbibers? Some seem to think it's on the low-end of high-end whiskeys and a good value, others seem to think it's pretty 'pedestrian/ average'.

I've had it before but haven't had any 'high-end' stuff as a reference.

I felt like I'd had a little glimpse of hell.

Barlow. Western Kentucky. We're actually four hours from Lexington. Next time you're there, Pleasant Hill (Shaker Landing) on the Kentucky river is a fantastic place to visit and/or spend the weekend if you haven't been there. It's a restored Shaker community.

Clearly Dr. Savage doesn't think much of my taste, however...

I will not drink Woodford Reserve. Will not touch it. There's something in the taste that I find seriously objectionable. It's.... subtle but deterministic. I'd rather have water.

I cant afford to experiment with different whiskeys and burbouns to much. I LOVE Makers Mark. and when I can afford it, i almost hate to pay the money for something i may be taking a chance on not liking. I also like the Jack Daniel single barrel but for some reason, regular Jack makes me mean so I stay away from it. I do recall Murph bought me a bottle of rare breed wild turkey a while back............I quite remember enjoying that.
