Ah, sidearms. I am a 1911 fan, and there for, I prefer the SA XD45. Same grip angle. I've shot more 45acp rounds than anything else, except 22. I hit where I aim with both my 1911 and XD45.
I get large ragged holes at 25yds with both.
And, after spending time at the Walther booth at SHOT, I'll tell you this, the new PPQ has the best trigger I've ever felt, just short of my 1911's that I done the trigger job myself.
Holy crap, them things are amazing.
Caliber is quite irrelevant, if you don't hit where you are aiming. Hollow points that fill with anything but fluid/tissue, turn into FMJ's and well go just as far. The only 100% reliable ammo, in regards to expansion, is the Federal EFMJ (expanding full metal jacket), they rely on impact, not hydrodynamics to expand.
You want safe? Use the prefrag ammo that sky marshals use. They won't penetrate a plane's hull, but will still go through sheet rock. So will Glaser safety slugs.
Any projectile traveling at terminal velocity, will go through walls, how it comes out, on the other hand, is a different story.
Speed and accuracy are the only things that count, I can put 10rds of Minimag 22LR in a group you can cover with a soda can at 21 feet, as fast as I can pull the trigger. Anyone wanna get hit with that?
