Snark before the Gathering

Forum buddy dropped by last night for a few beers. He brought some toys to show off, including his 9. First time handling 'The King' and now I wants one (more than I did the day before, anyway). Was surprised at how light/balanced it felt in hand... very knice knife!
 
So my sister sent me a text, Lets just say it was pro-liberal to keep it short. I responded with "Just remember (insert sisters name here), liberals are only liberals untill they're reminded of reality and learn the worlds a cruel, bad, hard place. Maybe if you actually opened your eyes once in a while you would understand. For now that's all I have to say." Going on 10 minutes and still no reply...

Let's definitely not do politics in here. It's a mistake to assume that people who don't agree with you have nothing to say, or aren't intelligent. Particularly not when it comes to your family. Frankly, I wouldn't have responded to a comment like that either. It is unresponsive to any of the issues she might feel strongly about, regardless of how true you may think it is, and antagonistic. Not really good for family dynamics either, and most of the things I might have said in her place would not have been productive.

What makes this forum so great is that it's a community of people who share similar interests (and often views), but that we all try to respect each other's opinions and views even if we might disagree. Political discussion is generally not allowed because it has the potential to be so divisive, especially because it can be so difficult to see something from another person's point of view, particularly if you think that what one side or the other says is at all reflective of "reality." Perhaps it would be best to focus on things that we all love (blades, guns, bacon, the outdoors, beverages of various sorts, etc)?



That being said, got a chance to shoot my longbow today for the first time. Really shoots differently from a compound bow, for sure. Lot more feel to it, and rather surprising how far off my point of aim was. Also carved my roast chicken with my BK5. Didn't take any pics, but it's a good kitchen knife to be sure!
 
If you think the 5 makes a good kitchen knife (cause well, it really does!) you ought to try the kitchen knives!

Seriously, what brand of longbow, and what specs? I want to get a good takedown (2 piece) when I get home, been looking at a Tomahawk brand, but the new ones are wicked expensive!

i just made huevodillas with cinnamon carmelized onions, sharp cheddar, and chipotle salsa.

Cap - that cherry cheesecake looks awesome -- you going to make some of that at Uncle E's place?
