Mornin fellers. Man I overdid it last night. Can't believe I'm not hung over. I'ma go get some breakfast burritos at the taco shop around the corner. Good stuff!

We get our pecans from trees on our property down in Alabama and have them mechanically cracked and shelled (two separate machines/processes) at a local hardware store. Worth the money to hire it out.

James, the recipe is simple for the pecans you tried. For about a gallon of shelled pecans, you melt a stick of butter, maybe a stick and a quarter. Pour the butter over the pecans, stir in about a teaspoon of salt, and spread them out on a cookie sheet. They go into a 250-degree oven for an hour or a little more, turning the nuts every 15 minutes to be sure nothing burns or sticks. That's it.

Cool, thanks for the tips! :)

The butt looks a little droopy...

No one likes a droopy butt! :p

Living in CO makes it difficult to not be a Bronco's fan. I've never liked the Broncos and now that I'm down here and everyone is trying to cram them down my throat I dislike them even more. Same reason I loathe the seahawks so much, they were the closest NFL team to where I grew up so everyone was all gung-ho even though they've been terrible for almost as long as I can remember. I've always been that way. Tell me I need to like something and I'll instantly hate it without giving it a chance. I guess that's why some people (especially from the area I grew up) hate the Cowboys (of whom I happen to be a fan). So I have mixed feelings. The Broncos and the Seahawks won :barf:, the Cowboys lost :( but the 49'ers and Packers Won. So if either the 49'ers or the Packers can take home a superbowl win I'll be happy. I'll settle for any one but Seattle or Denver.

I know what you mean. I never have been a big sports nut, since I always preferred outdoor activities (camping, hiking, canoeing, etc) to team sports. I'm big now (6'2", 270 lbs), but was skinny (6'2", 135 lbs) when I graduated high school, so I wasn't really built for team sports anyway. And I'd much rather do activities than watch someone else do it.

But I was at least a part-time fan of the St. Louis Cardinals FOOTBALL team back when Jim Hart was quarterback. Although I left St. Louis in 1985 to pursue my Army career, I have never accepted the St. Louis Rams as being a St. Louis team. My first wife is a Cheddarhead, so I became a Packer fan by marriage in 1988. That lasted until 2007 when she cheesed out on me and the kids... I made feeble attempts at dating, even going so far as trying to be a Cowboy fan like one lady was. Neither one worked out. I'm still friends with the lady, but Jerry Jones is still an a$$ clown. So I met a lady in Bible study at church a few years ago. As an aside, being a Lutheran church, there are a fair number of northern transplants, Packers, Vikings, and an odd Bears fan thrown in, but the main source of discord is the UT - A&M - Texas Tech trilogy. My new wife (married a year ago in August) is from Denver, so I find myself a Broncos fan by marriage. This is okay by me, since I can still hate the Cowboys like I did when I was a St. Louis Cardinals fan growing up! ;)

Edit: This probably gives folks way more insight into my "psyche" than they might want... To that, I say "ehhh, tough".

I don't know why the call it "coyote (brown or tan)" - every coyote I've seen around here is either some shade of gray/mottled or very dark brown, almost coffee. But them's eastern coyotes, which are much bigger than the western kind...NH wildlife says on their website that eastern ones are bigger due to breeding with gray wolves (DNA tested). Saw one in my side yard a couple years ago, and it was definitely not any shade of brown. Beautiful, though, and about 40-50 lbs, just guessing. A lot of people around here hate them (many of whom have never even encountered one), but I really think they are beautiful and fascinating animals.

Lee, you've got mail :)

Very awesome!

Just watched my SIL, who I gifted with the ESEE/Becker Kitchen set, cut up a fresh pineapple with a sandwich knife. I have a knife block filled with a few Wusthof Tridents, all of which would have been a better choice than the one she used (OK, maybe not the paring knife). I had to leave the kitchen, lest I open my mouth and cause a scene. :crushed::cower:

That is why every couple weeks I take one of the old craptastic ginsu wonder knives and throw it in the trash.. Almost got through the first layer of detritus in the shared knife drawer..

Anyone else get any sweet Christmas presents this year? Check this bad boy out! :D Finally something Guyon will be jealous of!

that sheath just screams, quality..

Mornin. Back to work for a day...then two more off. Someone turned off the heat in the Midwest this morning.

Coyote brown. It matches better with more other colors, for the fashion-conscious among us.
