Snark It

The Vargo is smaller, one of the reasons I chose it. Makes a nice windscreen for an alcohol stove as well. The Emberlit is sturdier, and can hold a lot of weight, but I just need it to hold a little water, etc. Also, the Emberlit doesn't have hinges to wear out, but I don't really foresee that as a major problem. The reason I ordered the Vargo, was as a backup plan to my gas stove. BTW, they do make an Emberlit mini.

I was just checking these two out down on the River and the quick and dirty look at the reviews gave me the impression that the Vargo was a bit on the small side

edit...you know how it goes with those reviews - a lot of initial impressions and not much use or comparison so it would be great to hear from more reliable sources.
gimme 2 weeks and I will have a review on it----got a sharpener review coming up in the next day or so

Another thing people like better about the Emberlit, is you can put longer sticks, etc, in it. You have to feed the Vargo more. The Vargo has a door, so I really don't understand why you couldn't leave it open, for longer sticks. Who knows. I'll probably end up with the Emberlit too, haha.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to some reviews.

I just watched a video review on the vargo, and it is pretty small. I do like that a gel or solid fuel would work nicely in it, though. Hmmm...

Looks like you can leave the door open:

Apparently holds some weight:

You can also place tent stakes in the grooves, to support a pot.

like the tent stake idea makes good use for the crappy stakes most tents come with.....

which reminds me, I need to buy some aluminum stakes for my new spitfire II

Not my normal post, but I've gotta ask a favor from everyone. This past Thursday my boss' wife went in for another round of chemo and ended up being admitted before they even gave it to her. She's not doing very good at all and from the sounds of it she probably won't be coming home from the hospital. I'm hoping that some of you will say a prayer for her in hopes that it might help her be more comfortable as she approaches the end and to comfort my boss and their children, family and friends.

Knee-mail sent

This is definitely one of those underwhelmed/overwhelmed days. I realize that statement doesn't make a lot of sense, like at all. But yeah, it is how it feels. So overwhelmed by everything that I can't do anything.

O.k. I can admit when I've been had. I have to admit I was just schooled in the art of smartassery. And the professor was none other than our very own Tradewater. That is all grumble grumble.

He invented all forms of "assery"!

Perchance where might we observe this schooling?
