it's all about the leverage. and the opening! Prolly scares 'em halfway open too. You know... my first knife/bottle opener was a BK-7 mod too! Alas, the Frankenbecker...

See, just wait 'til you handle a new full-size birudashi with the improvified non-sharp-end.
gonna try to see if i can fit the improvificaiton into the little ones like you've got too, but space is at a premium...

I've been using my little biru most of the time, improvified or not. It works. Just doesn't seem to be in my pocket ATM....might be in my shorts pocket. I was wearing them yesterday at the neighbor's holiday shindig and I was using it to open beverages instead of using the twist off. Shipyard beer...I had no idea.

One day, if I ever decide to go all in and get a dedicated sub-forum here (but that would divide my time!), I should do a survey of how people carry their birudii (inventing a plural?).
 
So, are we snarking or snacking? I'll try to get my head around this I the morning.
 
In on one.

Should be an easy week at work since Wednesday and Thursday are holidays. That also means 2 days of holiday pay, cha-ching! I have about $1600 in savings, $500 of the next check is going into savings also. I'll get my taxes e-filed as soon as I get my W2, my normal return is between $1k and $1300 but last year is was $2000 and I did even more OT this year so it'll probably be around there I would think. That'll put me at about $4000 or a touch more. Was thinking about what to do with it (I keep $1000 for emergencies like if a truck breaks down or something) then I remembered that I'm looking for a new job out of state so moving and getting a new place could easily be a grand. Best to just sit on it for a while.

I've wondered for a while, and even googled it to no avail...what the heck does "birudashi" and "kiradashi" mean? Are they words you invented or are they general terms for the style of knife/tool?

I don't EDC mine, however it IS part of my EDC-R. Since I carry my -11 every day, so the Kira is in the pocket rotation. It's still incredibly handy even without the Libation Liberation Device.
 
In? I honestly have no idea what these snark threads are about. I've tried to search it. I've tried to read through to see what the deal is. Still... no clue. If this is only reserved for Beckerheads and simply proclaiming "in" does truly constitute "in-ness", than I'm out. It can't bother me, because I have no idea what I'm in on. But for now, I'm in. I figure the only way to learn, is to do.

Correct. You do understand, but don't realize it yet.

The snark threads are about random topics and snarky comments to each other. There is a certain degree of "coolness" to be IBTL (in before the lock) on page 50 of the old thread and in on page 1 of the new thread. Otherwise it's pretty much random thoughts...

Welcome! You don't have to be a Beckerhead; you just have to bring your sense of humor....snark means "snide remark", so this thread is about absolutely nothing in particular. Be careful, tho: hanging out here regularly could lead to...well, I'd better not say. You'll find out.

Good morning guys, one more day till x-mas and there is still no Becker kukuri under my tree:(
Well my dentist is cool about a year ago we made a deal trade knives for caps... He requested two camp knives, a Damascus knife and a trophy knife... I couldn't turn down this deal, so I made 3 and the 4th being the trophy knife, he gave me some drill bits and teeth... I ended up making an oak stand for it... When I finally presented him with it, he was so excited about it.

 
I used some acrylic rods for post.. I wonder if this would be good for a regular knife? Its pretty cool, you can see thru the stud.
