Gus, let me know if that contact share doesn't work. BTW, the Deuter bag is a winner. Great design.

I may have another pint of pale ale and a bowl of Pirate Kake. But first... Lego building with the boy.

Thanks Jerry, if you want to put your name in the hat, feel free. I didn't think I would've had to bump that thread...
No problem. Its a very generous GAW of an absolutely awesome little blade... I don't plan to enter though. I've been fortunate enough here recently. I'd rather it go on to someone else. If I did win it, I'd probably just gift it to someone I felt deserving of it much like Guyon said he would..... Ask Todd, it's what I do with Hornets.

Those of you that use them, what are some good tomahawks? I've been looking at the cold steel line as well as two hawks and H&B forge

I don't know much about high-end 'hawks.

I can tell you that the Cold Steel Rifleman's hawk is a badass chunk of choppery-licsiousness, although I wouldn't want to carry it around on my belt or in my pack all day. The Cold Steel Trailhawk is less badass, but still chops quite well, while being a lot lighter and easier to hump around. I would not want anyone to smack me with either one... even a poor strike would result in a very unpleasant day for the guy who got clobbered with 'em.

They both can be used to hammer on things with authority... some would even say, impunity. I've driven many a tent stake and spike with both. No problem.

Neither of them splits wood worth a hoot. Use 'em to cut a wedge, and then hammer it through with the poll.

Both can be sharpened as fine as you want... but there's not much point in doing that. Neither will hold a fine edge worth a damn... which is fine, they're not meant to be razors, they're meant to be tough. Just don't kid yourself.

Buy both. Leave the somewhat cheesy black coating on 'em... it helps keep 'em from rusting and doesn't do any harm. Keep the big-un in your vehicle or at camp, and the little one in your pack. Get you an Allen wrench so you can remove the set-screw for packing, or when (not if) you have to replace the handle. Buy a mill bastard file, with which to touch-up the edges when you chip/dull 'em. Beat 'em both like rented mules.

If you plan on throwing either, order at least one extra handle right off the bat. Trust me, you'll need it sooner or later.

Did I mention, beat 'em both like rented mules? They can take it. These are not precision implements... but they're a whole lot of fun and a whole lot of thump.

The CS trailhawk might be one of the best bargains out there. They throw great.

Those HB Forge Shawnee hawks have been calling my name though.
They look great. I've heard a few members here sing praises.
I've heard nothing but good things about the company as a whole.
Yup, I'm gonna have to get me one!

Once my estwing is done I'll load some pics up, maybe some wip pics coming soon. Beard reprofiled and sharpened, now working on the hammer end of it. Not sure if I'm going to score it, make it spiked, or make a little pry lip on the top then I would have to figure out the bottom profile...

The contact information was perfect!

Glad to hear the deuter bag worked out.

Enjoy the Pirate Kake and the pint. They sounds like a great pairing.

+1 on the Lego!

Where are the hot women and bourbon? Heck, where are the Legos?

Hey, PM me your PayPal address please. I still owe you for a pack of bacon.

Those pictures are not fit for public distribution!

However I do have 2 bottles of vodka, a bottle of Dickel, and a bottle of Applejack.

I have nothing but high praise for the H&B hawk as a thrower and as an aesthetically pleasing artifact...... James is right always get extra handles....... My favorite thrower is the Estwing 26 inch all metal axe...... What a lovely THUNK it makes....hehehe........

I'm really looking at the medium and small camp axes but I'll have to check out the Shawnee as well

That is some high praise. H&B is definintly where I'm leaning

You'd have to spend a lot of money to beat the H&B hawks. I really have fun with the CS hawks and will never be without one stashed somewhere. For a big and actual working hawk the CRKT Chogan is a good choice. If I could only chose one it would be an H&B.
