Snark Will Tear Us Apart

Speaking of schnapps... no one down here seems to know what the heck I'm talking about when I mention it. Guess it's just not part of the culture. Good grief, back in WI you can't hardly escape someone offering you a shot of peppermint, or maybe cinnamon or apple, especially in winter time. Vanilla's pretty damn tasty, too.

On a cold horrible night, there's not much more comforting than a big cup of hot cocoa with a generous splash of Rumpleminz in it.... yum!

in mid-July, try tossing a cup of ice in a blender with 2 shots of hiram walker apricot brandy (or peach schnapps) and a scoop of lemonade powder.

There was a time i drank a lot of Apple Pucker, or 99 apples and 99 bananas, even goldschlager on quite a few occasions.

That low-proof rail stuff is absolute hell on my stomach... way too sweet and syrupy. Goldschlager and The Rump are the way to go for cinnamon or peppermint, or Berentzen if you like apple.

Sounds too sweet for me, but I get the idea and it sounds tasty. I'll try that same idea with just lemon juice and a touch of sugar, perhaps.

Speaking of refreshing cocktails, last summer Ang and I tried vodka/watermelon/lemonade at Pappadueax in Atlanta when we were there for BLADE, and she figured out how to make it at home. My word, that's some delightfully dangerous stuff right there :D

I am smoking a few house blend from Cigar and Tabac that I got when I was down in KC to visit family.

Black Forest, Straight cherry tobaccos too much, try this. Artfully blended by the owner, this cherry vanilla is the softest smoke.

Outrigger, our largest seller. A golden canvendish with a touch of fire cured canvendish laced with vanilla.

give me some warning the next time you'll be in KC - Granite City Brewery & Cabelas are only an hour from here and I don't mind an excuse to go fill up a growler.

Sittin at the tavern with my my ol buddy that own the trucking company, having a mini celebration. We just completed a frame strech on a 379 Peterbilt. For those of you that have never done that, its Freakin hard work. Its even harder to get it right. Well, its done so we decided to hit the tavern. Anyway, the point, just tried a shot of the Apple crown royal. AWESOME!!!!!!!

Congrats on finishing that project. I assume you guys got some pics to share.

Schnapps is popular up in Canada. Maybe it's a cold-climate drink.

I used to smoke a lot of Virginia's such as Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake, but it is hard to find these days. I also used to smoke a lot of Bullseye Flake. Been into the mild aromatics these days.

SG Full Virginia Flake is delicious. It's cool that you are also enjoying aromatics. Many Virginia tobacco fans tend to be pretty close-minded when it comes to other pipe tobaccos - especially aromatics.

I guess so. The Germans Poles and Norskis up North where I grew up just love it.

Wow, that almost sounds like a sport recovery drink!

I have been known to put a little (OK, a lot) vodka in original lemon-lime Gatorade, both as a "recovery" drink the day after and to keep me hydrated but buzzed during gigs the night before ;) Also good for sneaking into places where they frown on lunatics walking around guzzling from a jug of bourbon... no one looks twice at the guy with a bottled, labeled sport beverage...

Apple pucker was low proof, and normally got mixed with whiskey LOL, The 99 apples and bananas is 99 proof... But its still hell on my throat and stomach. Still sweet and syrupy.

Goldshlager wasnt as bad, but its still no whiskey LOL

You're a crafty man!

Sounds good. I was just down there this week. I also went to Cabelas. Hehe !! :D I try to hit it every time I go down there. It will probably be spring next time we get down there, but I will send you a line next time I am heading down.

OK, now having a bowl of Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture. Sweet Virginia with a spicy Perique in the background. A lovely VaPer.

Yeah I really like it. I bought a couple 1 lb boxes some time back. Wish I had bought more to stock up on because I believe it was about $25-$30 a pound.

Nah I like my Virginia's and aromatics equally well. I like the differences between both. Only thing I cannot get into are the English blends. They taste too much like cigars or cigarettes to me.:p

Good call, considering the subject matter!

Thanks, G. I'm thoroughly enjoying the read, though as a non-native speaker, the extensive use of 19th century regional dialect in Blood Meridian makes it a slow read for me. Slower compared to more contemporary works by the same author such as 'The Road', for example. I'm definitely pushing through though, I'm really enjoying the story and the Judge character is... Well... Interesting to say the least.

I don't know much of anything about high-quality tobaccos. I've been rolling my own cigs for years now, but the smoke I buy isn't anything particularly special. (basically, it's just the cheapest pipe tobacco).

However, a while back I was in a hurry and on the road, and bought a pack of squares to get me through the day... this seems to happen about twice a year. As always, jiminy freaking Christmas, I almost threw up as soon as I lit the first one. I could immediately taste the horrible chemicals they add to them store-boughts. WTF? Cause hey, smoking cigs isn't bad enough for you already, let's throw some formaldehyde and cyanide and god-knows-what-else-not in there just to really advance the cause. :barf:

You're a crafty man!

That's true, although some pansies and goody-two-shoes would call me a just-plain-devious, raging-but-functional alcoholic. Who's to say? Depends on your point of view, I reckon. Seems to be working so far.

I'm a boatload of fun at parties and I haven't beaten anyone up or gotten arrested in a very long time, so... *shrug*. If only I could learn to use my superpowers for the greater good... who knows what wonders might result? :p :D

My father just got a Polaris RZR XP 1000. Says its badass. I want to play with it LOL

Traded in his motorcycle.... That he loved, but i guess he has had it over 7 years and barely put 1000 miles on it so he wanted something he would use more often.

These things are awesome looking though.

Hey, anyone who's been wanting a TM Hunt Hornet should get in on THIS!

Thanks Jerry, if you want to put your name in the hat, feel free. I didn't think I would've had to bump that thread...

Been curious about that one. Is it really sweet?

I love Crown. Its my drink... But the maple crown was just too sweet for me to enjoy. So i been debating on trying the apple.

Murph brought some maple whiskey over to the shop earlier in the month, terrible stuff. Terrible. I expected as much with the apple crown. But was pleasantly surprised. Very smooth, very apple like with a smooth finish, I will be buying a bottle of it very soon.

Congrats on finishing that project. I assume you guys got some pics to share.

There will be pics, but none soon, the truck was wrecked and we had to straighten the frame rails, so, it was just as much work to strech it. We also are putting custom rear, and front fenders on it, new light bars, sleeper extensions, deck plate and front bumper on it. All handmade mind you, then off to the paint shop. Pretty big feat considering it was cut in half 3 days ago.

I would, but I won't. If I won, I'd just gift it. A while back, Todd graciously gifted me his personal Hornet, and in line with such generosity, I'd rather someone else have the pleasure of one of these very useful blades.

From the What's In Your Growler? Thread...

First in! As promised, Black Abbey Pale Ale...
