What a week!! The last 7-10 days have been hectic. Both kids sick on and off... Fevers up to 103!! Went to the doctor and he checked ears and throat and said they would be fine it's a bug that's going around bad right now but mostly only effecting kids... He gave us antibiotics but said it's viral so they prolly wouldn't help much..

Then also a pipe exploded under the house and soaked the floor insulation... Had to rip it out... Then the water pump stopped working this morning... Ants again... Great times!!

But the weather is getting cooler!! Which means fishing, camping, moonshine, big fires and great nights!!

Oh yea... one good thing that happened is I scored a FREE craftsman YT4000 46" riding mower... It's older but works excellently!

Today's the first day both kids went to school in over a week... I think I'll twist up a lefty, throw on some headphones and mow the grass... You know it's been a rough week when mowing the yard sounds like a mini vacation LOL

I think so too Dubs. Some of the best info on the interwebs is right here. Biscuit made a really cool post one time, but I can't remember what it was about....

I solved the JFK assassination mystery, provided Area 51 details, settled the Ford/Chevy AND Budweiser/Miller debates, and sketched out how to be a millionaire in only two months.

Unfortunately, that post is buried forever.

Someone might better get working on the new snark or it could be a snark free November if we just count on plain motivation.

I vote for "Snark Yurty To Me Too". :p

I still have my old Klein, but it needs rims and a new fork and the cost of those almost equals a new bike..

I am assuming you are referring to the controller box for a water well when you say "water pump". Some of the things you can try in attempting to reduce ant intrusion on electrical circuits are

1) build a well house around the controller box (and pressure tank, if the tank is collocated with the controller at the well head)
2) sprinkle cinnamon on the ground inside the well house
3) hang a sock full (or two) of moth balls inside the well house fairly near the controller box.

The purpose of the shed is to protect controller and pressure tank from the elements. Protection of the cinnamon and moth balls is just a happy by-product.

I use cinnamon under and around the bases of my bee hives to try to keep fire ants out of the hives. This SEEMS to work pretty well, but I have to replace the cinnamon after every medium to heavy rainfall, as the rain washed away the cinnamon. I used cinnamon for fire ant prevention in my well house and my parents' well house, also, and it seemed to work. The purpose of the moth balls is to keep mice and rats from chewing on the well controller wires that are exposed.

Edit to add - Our well houses had concrete slabs to stabilize and protect the well head and for the tank to sit on. If your well house is dirt floored, you would have to replace the cinnamon on the dirt floor every time it rained enough for you to get standing water in the well house. If you don't already have one, you should have a concrete pad poured out to about 4 feet from the well head in all directions, at the least, to protect the well head from being flooded during heavy rains and contaminating your water well.

He did???? :p

On a side note, I believe this snark thread holds the record for the longest running snark thread ever in the history of mankind.

Oswald did it, it's in Nevada, both, neither, marry a billionaire. Anything else?

Guys and gals, I'm sorry I haven't been that active.
Nothing to do with motivation and all about perspiration. Work has been kicking my butt.
Man, if I realized that three of the five moderators were AWOL, I'd be tearing the place up. :p

What this place needs is a big shot of Moose.

Wait...we could have been tearing it up here and we've been slogging through slow yurt land instead? Where the heck are the rules of this place?
