Cool pics tw. They used to have the reenactments here once a year. Pretty cool indeed.

The wife was asking me what I want for my birthday, and Christmas. Kinda funny, I used to have a list, but I've since fulfilled it over time. I have no idea. Well, I have been wanting a carving axe, and was thinking about a Roselli, haha. Beyond that, no clue.

Awesome pictures Trade!!

Hmmm... what do we have here....

Sweet pictures Trade! sounds like it would be interesting to watch!

Warrior, I've been finding its harder to think of things I want for my BD too. Thank god for this forum ;) almost got an endless list! Carving axe sounds sweet!

Man I'm beat. I've got 75 hours in since Tuesday and we're still going. Gonna combine tonight until we finish this field or run out of space to put the soybeans. Its the last soybean field and its supposed to rain tomorrow, so it needs to get done. I will enjoy sleeping in tomorrow for sure.

Hmph, your lucky there. I never remember a Christmas where I got what I wanted. Growing up, Dad was just to cheap, we would get some junk knock off of some variation of what we asked for but never what we asked for. Once I got married, we never had the money to get anything nice, so we just got used to it I guess. I haven't got anything for Christmas since I was 18, (other than Murph buying me a good bottle of whiskey most years ) but besides that, notta. I'm not bitchin, at my age, Christmas isn't about me anyway. Wife and I are just glad to see our kids enjoying Christmas. Getting them there pup Sophie this year sure was a blessing....... to all of us.

Sounds like you got a real job on your hands Ac. Farm work ain't for sissies that's for sure. I'm sure you will sleep like a baby tomorrow.
WW - nice looking mod. I'm always scared I'll cut myself if the edge comes all the way like that.
Warrior - my birthday is coming up pretty soon too, Nov 5th. I've got a pretty good list on Amazon. It's just a good way to keep track of all the random goodies I run across all year.

I was lucky there. My dad was a kick ass Christmas purchaser. I never asked for anything for Christmas, and always got awesome stuff. I only had one son, so he was always well blessed for Christmas too. My wife wants a nice ukelele for Christmas. Gonna get her a nice Fender Uke.

Nov 17 here. I may have fondled a nice knife the other day that may or may not be in the budget around the time of my Birthday. I'll have to wait and see.

In other news... what was in the budget this month: BK11! And now I play the waiting game....

Yup! Xmas morning is 10 times better as an adult i think. Growing up i was never upset xmas morning, i understood there were 5 of us kids and we were not very wealthy so i was just happy with what we got. It always bothered me when someone complained about not getting exactly what they asked for, or thinking it wasnt enough. I knew my dad and step mom tried hard as they could and always thought they did a damn fine job with the money they had, hell i often wondered how they managed to do all they did on Xmas for us.

But as a father now, i LOVE watching my kids light up on xmas morning. The smiles on their faces and the hugs after they open their presents are worth more than any present i could get. Its truly a great feeling!

Thanks bud! I prefer being able to have my finger next to the edge!!

And i understand the river store list LOL, i have probably 50 things in my save for later list. And thats as low as its been in a while. I just cleared a lot of stuff out of there recently.

I want a porta-band saw. I want a band saw really but im not sure if the cheaper ones would work on steel. But the band saw would be AWESOME for cutting out wood scales. But id like to NOT have to use a hacksaw everytime i cut a chunk of steel. I also want a tumbler as well... Man i WANT a lot LMAO

But i need a new camera something fierce. mine is LITERALLY falling apart. The battery door wouldnt close anymore so i broke it off and now one of the plastic pieces in front of the lens wont close when the camera closes, another one gets hung up when i turn it on sometimes. I have had it quite a long time though and have used the hell out of it. So i got my moneys worth. But i doubt it will last much longer. The wife knows either a camera or portaband saw is what i want, but i have no idea what she will get.

On the other hand i have no idea what to get her. She never says she wants anything, so i been trying to search her browser history for clues but she doesnt even look up much except stuff for the kids so that makes it hard. A good bottle of Vodka is on the list, she loves her some vodka.... but i need to find something else as well.

Its definitely a lot of work and long hours, but I'm really enjoying it. I haven't worked these kind of hours for a good 10 years. I'll be headed back to my regular job in about 3 weeks if all goes as planned. By then the farmers I'm working for should be about done with harvest, so it will work out well.

I have one of those. It has a very thick head sort of like a splitting wedge. Very well made.

I've been reading reviews on them. They do have a very thick head, yet seem to chop very well. I was mostly wanting to try my hand at carving with it. Roughing out a spoon, a bowl, etc. Do you have the hatchet, or axe? I know they have the same head, just a longer/shorter handle. I figured I'd go with the axe, as I can always choke up on it, and still have the length for chopping, when needed.

I really like the GB carving hatchet too, but they're a bit costly.

No one ever asks me what I want for my birthday. Heck, I'm lucky if I'm consulted on what kind of cake I want. However, THIS year, I shoulda been suspicious when my b-in-l started asking me knife questions. NO ONE in my family ever does that. Then, a few weeks ago, he texted me asking questions about Kabar Kukri Machetes.. have I ever used one, why are they better or worse than something else, etc and then the coup de gras,
Did I have one?
Nope, one of the few Kabars I don't have.
Well, don't buy one.

60 may be a good year. :D:D

For Christmas, I just make a list of stuff I want for the shop and farm - jack stands, sprayer parts, peg board hooks, hack saw blades, drill bits, etc and hope someone looks at it.

AC -How's that CPAP working out? I've been using one for over 2 years and I've never slept better.

Happily, our harvesting has been over for 2 months. There's a few farmers with some cotton that still needs to be stripped that has been delayed due to rain (devaluing it significantly :( ).

Roselli I was talking about:

roselli-axe-r850.jpg

That indeed looks like a cool tool. Never seen one of those before. The cut out looks like it would be great for choking up on the handle for detail work, and stil looks like it would be a hell of a chopper......... whats it weigh?
