Pretty cool. Have you used yours yet?

I should get my 12" double cut bastard file tomorrow, i ordered that specifically for the file jig. I have a 10" bastard file here but its single cut.

However i just spent around 10-15 minutes trying it out with the 10" file anyways LOL. I like it a lot so far. The double cut will remove steel quicker, and the extra 2" will make a lot of difference i think, not in the fact it will work quicker because its 2 extra inches, but because im only using the section of the file before the taper starts, so the extra 2" will give me more room on the file itself to use.

Did a little more and called it quits for the night.

It looks like it will make really nice, clean plunge lines. Can you make them as neatly with your 2x42 grinder or will you use this in conjunction with your 2x42 or is that a form of knife-making heresy?

Its harder to make clean plunge lines with the grinder. I have only done 1 knife so far but the plunge line was one of the things i messed up on.

Im going to be practicing with both the jig and the grinder. I want to be able to use the grinder and still get clean bevels and plunge lines as well. But for times when its late and i still want to work on knives i can use the file jig. It takes a lot longer but i dont mind.

And once i get the file jig down, as it seems to take way less practice, i may be able to make a couple things that are not too shabby for a couple of family friends that have told me they would like to buy a knife from me just to help me buy more tools and materials. But if all i see when i look at the knife is faults i wouldnt feel right selling it.

I have 8 feet of 52100 steel on the way and thats all for practicing and learning. Ill ruin a bunch of it doing bevels im sure. But the only way to get better on that grinder is to jump on it and do it.

Since i know im going to mess up a lot of steel for a while i was picking out of O1 and 52100 and planned to go with the cheaper one. Surprisingly the 52100 from Aldo was cheaper than the O1. So i got 8 feet of it. All 1/8". 4 feet is 1.5" wide and 4 feet is 2" wide. After shipping it was 62 bucks for it all. Damn good price if you ask me.

That file jig is awesome. I love mine. It really did help me a lot.

WW, I am glad to see it is working out for you! Be sure to clean the file often so the file cuts better and so it won't leave deep scratches in your blade.

I got the word that my knife is on it's way back to me. I can't wait to start working on some curly maple scales for it.

I have file jig, it keeps all my files in order and alphabetized, I have a double stacker, bottom drawer has a lock on it for my important files

One 25+ -year-old knife (the original THK project) all weekend, for everything from breakfast to bedding down. Goin' back to my roots...

Great ! Thanks WW. Now I kinda want a file jig, and I dont really have anywhere to set up ..lol

Hey a file jig doesnt take up any space really. If all i was going to use was a file jog and didnt have any basement/garage/shop id do that in my kitchen. BUT.. You would still need stuff to get the blank profiled out as well.

My son seen this costume while in the store yesterday and just had to have it. He says he wants to be a scary clown on Halloween LMAO, the Deimos knife is almost bigger than he is :D

Its always fun to pull out those older blades you use to use more and put them back to work... Very fun. Also interesting to see where you came from. Some of my favorites are from when my age was in single digits and didnt know squat about knives lol.

I really like that knife too James. Is that a re-handled fighting utility (KA-BAR or variant) or a knife you built from the ground up? Either way I really like it.

Had an Upper GI series test today....

Ate some pop rock like stuff that made me want to burp, but i wasnt allowed to. Then drank this nasty chalky barium stuff. Heaviest liquid i ever had to swallow... And i had to chug 2 cups of it.

Then at the end he tells me i have GERD. Well OK. I knew i had reflux and heartburn a lot. I could of told them that without those test... I DID tell them that without that test.

Now i just pooped and its white. They told me that would happen and its normal, but i tell you what there is nothing normal about white poop.... Except when Neko does it because he eats raw meat and bones.

Stomach hurts though. Cramping up and crap. Hope it passes soon. I wanna do some filing.

Yeah, I wouldn't like pooping white... anything other then a variant of a brown and I'd start asking questions!

That is funny. Amanda's Grandfather is a Machinist and was making fun of my file jig. He keeps asking me if I have been doing much clerical work.

Some people are just messed up :(

Is it weird that I'm wondering what kinda knife he used...normally a tool to process lettuces or other vegetables...

Yea that is messes up. This world is full of a lot of hate.

On the 22th there was a shooting right in front of my wife's job... a 15 year old girl was killed, another teenage boy was shot 3 times, he is still in critical condition, on the 24th there was another shootout between 2 kids in front of a charter school less than 2 miles from my home 1 dead 2 injured, also on Wednesday A gunman opened fire leaving a pregnant mom and her unborn child dead and her boyfriend in critical condition, they think that one was a revenge shooting. That happened 2.5 miles from my home.

This is just the shootings i know about, and just this week. When i say Philadelphia is the devils toilet. I mean it.
