Redds is not bad -- it's beer with an apple flavor. (I prefer Strongbow or some of the other ciders)
I am not a fan of Rolling Rock.
New Glarus is good if you can get it.
for good cheap beer - go to Trader Joe's and try their "Name Tag" and "Simpler Times" beers. Unfortunately for you, the closest location is probably in the twin cities.

Yeah.....never even seen a Trader Joe's, lol. I like Rolling Rock, Moose Drool, and some other ones.

moose drool is good stuff -- so is the coffee porter from that same brewery.

I actually have a nice Moose Drool glass somewhere that I obtained from a restaurant that is local to them.

This is as close to alcohol I get, great rootbeer drank a six pack while camping with my son by the fire.

July 4th will be 3 years!

congrats - have not seen the HW root beer before.
Have some Abita root beer in the fridge if SWMBO hasn't drank the last of it -- that's pretty good, too!

Got 'cum laude' on my thesis, whoopwhoop! Now I hope I passed for my exams, if so, I can go to graduation on Friday. Two uni degrees, check! Still nobody will want me on the job market, check! :p

Congrats Galeo!!!

Fired up the little 15 inch charcoal grill to make some burgers a while ago. I had my fenix ld01 in my lips shining it on the grill and dropped it right into the edge of the coals. It died in the few minutes that it took me to get it out. Threw it on the ground to cool off before I threw it away and went inside for a minute. When I came back out it was on again!!! The only thing I see wrong with it is the lens hazed a bit.

I should have filled out my earlier question better.

Semi auto, home defense/shtf shotguns, are what I am looking at, and I am having a hard time deciding if I should spend heavy, or if say the Mossberg semi is as good as the Remi semi, is close enough to not justify the extra price on the Benelli or Browning, or FN semis.

I think a mossy will do fine in that role Sil. I do like the pumps better though.

Absolutely gorgeous day here today. Had my coffee by the pond this morning and the dog and I watched deer chasing each other all over the fields as the sun came up. Not too bad.

That stuff is everywhere. :D Too bad I can't make the gathering...I'd export a few cases. Maybe if I can swing the fall one. I'll have to get some Sprecher rootbeer for 710.

Yeah, the Mossbergs are really decent for that, actually. If it were a true shtf scenario, I'd want a pump, though. Much more simple and easily fixable if it were to jam or break.

Hey Thorny, rkmoore said it best. depending on the model your looking at and price is no consideration, go with the Benelli or Browning. However, if its home defense your looking at, those would be the last ones I would consider. why pay for a Cadilac when a chevette with get you to the grocery store. Its not like your going to be shooting hooligans every night of the week. Im a Indiana boy. shotguns are as common place to me as anything. Ive had about every make and model and you still can never go wrong Remington. Ive got a 1100 and a 870 that are both older than me and still use them regularly. Hell, they will belong to me boy and his kids some day and Im confident they wont have problems with them either. As far as Mossberg. I understand they make a specific home defense model that is pretty sweet and Im sure it would be a great gun. But personally, Ive had a few Mossbergs in my day and have gotten rid of them. I had some chambering problems with a 9200, and ive had a 500 that I didn't like for various reasons. Just my 2 cents.

Remingtons are fine guns indeed, but I've had a couple of finicky 1100's. Pumps shoot faster and would be the only thing I would consider for home defense/shtf.

Youtube some videos on semi auto shotty's and you will find 6/10 that have some sort of feeding issue in the video. (even Benelli) I happen to like the old Mossberg 500 pump shotgun. Easy to use, works every time, and has simple mechanics should something go south. My buddy has a Benelli M2 that was pretty nice. Seemed like a sturdier made moss 500. Remington makes a great one as well. (and a good portion of them come stock with ghost ring sights) As far as "what to spend", my mossy goes boom every time and I'm sure the high dollar Benelli will as well.
