Well just got a new tracfone only to find out it's on some other kind of service from my old one and it doesn't work at home or anywhere unless I go an hour or two away from the house to get some. I would return it but it's already got a 365 day card on it and AFAIK there's no way to get that money back. :(

Well that sucks...
There's basically two types of phones...CDMA and the other. One is Verizon, ones AT&T. No matter who the provider is, they all share either Verizon or AT&T towers. This is set up through the actual phone. You may be able to swap phones and keep the account, i.e. "my phone broke", etc...and get the service that works in your area which is most likely Verizon which is CDMA. So look for a CDMA phones which should have a red USA coverage chart, AT&T will be blue.

Yeah the one I got is a GLM or whatever it's called instead of CDMA. Tracfone has a thing where you can exchange minutes with another phone but I would have to find one of their smartphones that uses CDMA because if I tried switching back to my older "not smart" phone they can only change numbers and can't gove me back the time that's on the new phone.

Should have just put more minutes on the old one instead of even looking at a new one but I was swooned by the idea of the new one also being an MP3 player.

Made an appointment with the realtor today, to look at the other cabin Saturday. It needs work he said, as I knew it did, but he said it was still in decent shape. He said that older folks own it, and they didn't frequent it as much as they thought they would, so they're selling it. If it's in half ass decent shape, I'm going to low ball the hell out of it. Worse they can say is no, then go from there.

710, Really excited for the new shop man, you deserve it..... Can't wait till I can come out there one day and take a dip in that pool! :-) congrads!

Warrior, hope stuff works out with the new cabin, let me know if you need a bunch of drunken indiana boys to help break the place in. :-)

Also, havnt said much about this little chapter, but got a new guy helping me out around the shop. Please give him a welcome, he will be a great addition around here, just a little shy! :-)

The "other" is GSM - AT&T and some other carriers - including most of the rest of the world outside of the U.S. The GSM network is, unfortunately, spotty at best in the states. Though to be fair, I have Sprint - which is CDMA - and the service is pretty lame, even though the Verizon CDMA service kicks butt locally. The big V isn't really into sharing towers. Perhaps that is because Sprint is so cheap.

Thanks man. Pretty excited about it. Not remote by any means, but still cool.

I only need about 160 grand to pay off everything. Home, truck, land, shop, credit cards ECT. I'd have enough left to get a new roof on the house and fence in the entire property.

250,000.... No more worries... Ever. This is enough to play. Not enough for the wife to quit working for good, but enough we don't have to ever worry about needing extra hours to pay a bill, and we'll take time off to play when we're ready.

1.5 billion? My heart would of exploded. I couldn't live through that. I never made 50 grand in a year... That's wealthy to me... I'd have an aneurism or something anywhere near a billion dollars.

250k, yeah I agree, I could pay off everything and make my own living. But I'd definately still have to work. 50k? RICH? With a wife and two kids? How do you figure? I live in Indiana where cost of living is cheap compared to most states. If you have to pay your own heath care, and self employed, 50k doesn't go very far....... Sure as hell aint rich!

I just re read that, and realize I may sound like a total a$$hole so let me back up and ask the same question....
WW, I know you lived several years in Pennsylvania? Is that correct? And you have since moved to Florida? Correct me if im wrong. Both of those states have a higher cost of living than Indiana. You and i both have two kids and a wife. But,
Niether one of us in our household drive a vehicle thats less than 12 years old (but there paid for) house and utilities the only thing we owe. Don't live beyond our means, don't go on vacations, don't buy anything beyond things for the business. And at the end of the month may have enough to buy a six pack.......what am I missing out on? Because 50k is not a difficult yearly achievement in my relm. Should I move to Florida?

Yeah, I can't figure out how Sprint is even still around.

We use Straight talk for my wife and daughters phones. I made sure to get CDMA phones. My work phone is Verizon and their connections seem to be every bit as consistent as mine so I always recommend Straight talk.

Sounds like a great plan. Hope it works out!

We have never made 50 grand in a year so to me it's rich... I understand its still not rich for real.... Just compared to what I make its pretty damn good.

Healthcare is likely killing you too. Wife gets it for her and the kids through her work. I go to the VA.

Less than 50 grand a year, here in the bushes, makes a comfortable life for families everyday. Doublewides and dirt roads ain't for everyone though.

No WW let me apologize, were just from two different worlds obviously. I mean no disrespect really, I'm just honestly trying to get it..... There isn't a damn thing wrong with a gravel road and a doublewide, actually, you probably have it better than most, and if I have insulted anyone or you, then I am the one in the wrong. Seriously, I'm just curious as how there is such a huge difference. Don't want to get into politics, but it is a election year, I'm just trying to understand the difference.......

I honestly don't mean to come off as a d!ck, just really trying to see the errors of my way????????

I'm ready to move to Florida if I can live down a gravel road........... What am I missing?

Did any of you get to see "The Big Short"?

I was hoping to go tomorrow but checking the listings it's already gone. I thought it looked good, but I guess I'll never know.

Some stupid movie about a war between the stars in all over the place though.

Sheesh.

edit:
I obviously need to go back to the eye doctor. There is a 12:30 showing.
I'd still love reviews or thoughts if you've got 'em.

2nd edit:
The day selection button reset. Today was the last day. :(

Been trying to get through some crap recently. Trying to buy a house but it seems the mortgage brokers around here don't know what they're talking about half the time, and don't know what they need from me either. It's getting frustrating. Especially since I found a house that I wouldn't mind starting in for a good long while. I'm hoping to it doesn't go before I can put an offer on it.

I'm also not sleeping very well either. I've started taking sleeping pills because I haven't been sleeping through the day (I work third shift), and that's irritating too. Like today I decided to not take any sleeping pills because I don't want to be dependant on them. I crashed around 8 and woke up at 1300. Decided I'd clean up a bit then catch up with some leather work. When I finally decided I could fall asleep again the mortgage people started emailing and calling so I couldn't crash out for a bit again.

I'm ready to get this all behind me...

Not being able to sleep sucks - the very life out of you. Or at least the very life out of the next day.

Here's to hoping for a decent Friday. And people that don't call. And for your mortgage broker to get it together.
