Day shift around here might not be too bad. Come spring I'm going to go days for a month to learn more from them.

Working days where I am means getting up at 5:00am and I have a rule against getting up before 7:00 on a regular basis. If I have to I have to but I won't if I can avoid it.

Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

Just sayin'... ;)

Nix, my physician wife recommends melatonin, with a minimum dose of 10mg. Helps you go to sleep, and makes the sleep that you do get much better. If you take under 10mg, you won't get any benefit. It also degrades quickly in light, so if you spend a lot of time staring at a computer screen after taking it, you won't notice any change. But if you take some, particularly the quick release stuff they sell at Costco, and just relax for a half hour or so, it helps a lot with getting some restful sleep. Works great for me. The studies also suggest you can't really OD on the stuff either. It's got a variety of health benefits.

Whether you're nocturnal or a night sleeper, going to bed and getting up at the same time every day is the best thing you can do to get enough sleep. This is particularly hard for me being a day sleeper because then I can't do anything outdoors if I were to stick to a constant sleep schedule. So I tend to try my best to get enough sleep during my work week and then play on the weekends and usually grab a couple hours in the afternoon if I'm home. Which is so very bad for me. But probably not as bad as hating life and my job and all that. What's the point of living longer if you aren't happy?

None. That's why I refuse to give up bacon and beer.

I used to use melatonin. Got to a point where I would take 30mg a night. Then I started exercising and eating better, then I no longer needed it :D

The benefit of being self-employed {I sell legal insurance) and semi-retired is I sleep until I'm done sleeping.

I don't make any appointments for before 1000 -
0. because I can
1. for a 1000 appointment in, say, downtown Austin, I have to leave home at 0830.
2. I learned a long time ago that business owners don't want to talk to sales reps before 0900 or 0930 anyway.
3. people who have real 8-5 jobs can't make appointments until after they get off work, so I'm frequently setting up appointments for anywhere from 1800 to 2000. Then from Austin it's gonna take an hour or more to get home. Damn sure not getting up before 0800 when I don't get home until 2300.

Throw in an intermittent EMS call or 2 in the middle of the night and 0900 comes WAY TOO EARLY.

But will you be up and make to the Austin Area Beekeepers seminar tomorrow? I'm signed up for the 201-level classes and my wife actually decided to join me and is in the 101 classes. If not, enjoy sleeping in since we'll be up about 0530.

Nope, not making that one. Unfortunately, I have finish up some stuff before contractors show up next week to start reconstruction a retaining wall that is falling over. Pieces of mortar and busted up concrete chunks to remove, sand piles and concrete blocks to moves,
