Snarking Up The Wrong Tree

Lots and lots of words.
I agree, that not all breeds are for everyone. My cousin and her husband raised a chow from a pup. Had it for years with no problems. One day it got it in it's head that it would attack them. Boy, did it ever. They were sitting at the supper table, and all of a sudden it bit her on the boob, and arm. Her husband grabbed the dog from behind, and it turned around and attacked him as well. He was able to get the dog on the ground, with his arm around the dog's throat. Cousin called the cops, and when they got there, they instructed him to let go of the dog. He said he wouldn't until they drew their guns. They did, but it didn't matter at that point anywhos, as he strangled, and killed it. Crazy...

For some reason your pics aren't showing up WW. Ill have to see if I can figure out how to post pictures again. I haven't put any up since Photobucket cut everyone off.

ETA. Had to change browsers and the pics showed up. Good looking pups and yeah, Lucan is going to be huge!!

I woke up a while ago with all kinds of ambition to mow, adjust my tonneau cover, seal the bed of my pickup, and a few other things. Then I realized it's 90° outside and I lost most of it. Maybe I'll change the oil and blades on the mower and go fishing. I don't really do heat very well.

We have two dogs, a Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix and a German Sherpherd/Lab(?) mix.

Sawyer, our Golden mix, looks like a Golden until he gets wet and then you see the "merle" coloring that Aussies have start to peak through. Otherwise he looks and acts like "Doug" from the movie Up, should have named him Doug...

I don't have many pictures of the pooches, they never sit still long enough... Here are a couple of pics of when they were pups.

Phoenix, our Shepherd/Lab, is still pretty young but we are having some difficulties with her. She has become pretty aggressive, attacking Sawyer without cause, does not interact well with people she doesn't know at all, doesn't even warm up to them after some time and exposure. We are at a bit of a loss with her, to be honest. She is 2 years old and though we almost lost her as a pup (prior owner failed to vaccinate for parvo even though we were assured she had been), she has turned into a very athletic and smart dog. I do suspect she has some vision problems though. With her family she is a total sweetie but I feel it is only a matter of time before she bites someone she doesn't know...

Sucks. We got her after both my dad and our Boxer passed away. Allie was barely 2 years old when heart disease took her.

Good looking dogs! Sorry to hear about the issues.

There are lots of great trainers and animal behaviorist out there... The problem is the good ones aren't cheap and normally the cheap ones aren't any good.

If I were you I'd keep her away from people she doesn't know. Crate her or put her in a bedroom when you have guest over. Better safe than sorry.

Battle has been through quite a bit of training, but I still wouldn't leave him alone with people he doesn't know... Especially kids he doesn't know. It only takes a second.

Wow that's crazy indeed!! We had a couple chows when I was a kid... They can definitely be aggressive. One of them didn't like any one but us, he would try and bite everyone else. The other one was easy going and loved everyone...

I've had so many dogs, and so many different breeds in my life it's crazy. All breeds can be aggressive, many breeds have attacked, mauled, even killed. Breeds you'd never expect... Just like people, it's the dog not the breed...

That being said, some are more prone to being aggressive, protection breeds are one of them. And many people are not suitable or experienced enough to own them.

Lycan will be going through intensive obedience training, but even then I'll be super careful with him. I'll never leave him unattended with people he doesn't know, and always supervise him with my own children.

I have had many talks with my kids. They fully know to never mess with a dog that's eating, sleeping, never take a toy or bone from them, never try to ride them, never stick their faces in the dogs face ECT.... Even though I may do these things, I won't risk it with my children or other people's children.

TL;Dr.. lots and lots of words :D

Man... Ordered a new rod to go with my new president XT reel. 5 foot, ultralight fast action with exposed graphite blank... Was excited to get it today until I seen the box...

Huge 7"x7" by 7 feet long box... No bubble wrap or any other type of protection.. one rod. Could of fit 20 in that box.

The box looked bent up... So no surprise that the rod was completely broken in half. :(

They asked if I wanted refund or replacement... I asked if it would be packaged better this time... They said there's no guarantee it will be packaged any different.... What?? Gimme my money.

Dang its hot as hell over here... And not a drop of rain fore a loong time

Got some Vip-tickets to the Swedish Game Fair and went there yesterday.
The heat made it almost nonfun..had to wait in line for some burgers almost an hour in the scoarchin heat.
Lots of cool new stuff had to be inspected and some tested.
Not alot of knives where awailiable except for a bunch of puukkos, leukkos and swingblades... Didnt take pics of those though

The Fair was held at Tullgarn Castle.

Last month I finally ordered the St Croix Avid X I've been wanting for a few years. I found a really good deal on it and when it got to the post office the heavy shipping tube it was in was all mangled and the rod inside was destroyed. I ended up getting refunded for it because they didn't have any more in stock. I was so bummed. I ended up forking over the full $200 for one at Scheels and got a $25 gift card with it. Not as good of a deal as I had gotten before, but better than nothing.

Looks like a good time, despite the heat. Been hotter than eff here too. Freakin' humidity sucks as well.

Yea that sucks.. after I got mine I posted about it on a fishing group and LOTS AND LOTS of people have had similar issues.... I'll never order another rod online.

My father has 5 or 6 St. Croix rods, and a stradic Ci4 on each one. Must be nice LOL

Yesterday at the tackle store I was picking between the Fenwick eagle and a St. Croix triumph... A cheaper St. Croix, about $80.. The Fenwick was 60...

But the guy that worked there told me he doesn't usually recommend a cheaper product, but in this case he'd recommend the Fenwick over the triumph, he said unless I wanted to shell out more money on a better St. Croix the Fenwick was the better rod. He said lately the triumph blanks have not been as durable...

Of course I got online and started checking reviews on each... I found cases of each breaking... All rods can break though... But on several sites the Fenwick eagle had a higher rating than the triumph. And I love saving a little money lol

Honestly I would of really liked the St. Croix panfish rod... But it was a hundred bucks... I only had $90 with me. That's life.

Above I say all rods can break... Which is true... But I have been using the same 2 ultralight 4'6" ugly sticks for YEARS. Both paired with a now discontinued Abu Garcia Cardinal with side drag ring... And my father used them for years before giving them to me. My kids have used and abused them as well... Strong cheap rods and reels... But it was time to try something new.

I've shot a .300 WM -- and it has an appreciable kick.
can't imagine what it would feel like to have a pair of .460's go off at once.

The 460weatherby doubble had a fast hard kick( two 500grain bullets leaving @ +2700fps). Similar to a quadruple 300wm plus a lill more umph... Nasty.
I used to like shooting fullblast +p 45-70, 45-90, 458winmag and until recently 338lapua but have since matured away from such thingies..
Nowadays i use 6,5x55, 30-06 and the good ol 9,3x57. All of them enough for the biggest and toughest game over here and probably in your part of the world aswell.

I'd bet there was not a big line to have a second turn shooting a 460 double  Looks like it was an awesome fair to attend and thanks for posting it danny.K
