Snarking Up The Wrong Tree

Had to show off my new buddy. Just picked him up yesterday.

A little older than I would have liked at 4 months but the breeder needed to move him due to being in a tight spot. Apparently he has too much white on him for breeding purposes but he is healthy, strong, and has been very well taken care of.

Meet Saxon. He is going to be a stout dude.

Congrats on your new buddy  4 months might be better than you thought it's the start of the good listening age and the start of adult teeth :)

Saxon is a cute pup! Boxer?

Yeah, a Boxer. I am such a sucker for this breed. You can't help but be happy when they are around.

I think you are on to something. Being a bit older also means he sleeps through the night without any wiz breaks. Last night went remarkably well.

Congrats bro!! I had a boxer years ago and that joker was awesome. She could climb fences and jump really high. Goofy, clumsy... But awesome lol

Me and my wife were both in the army at the time, and both sent overseas... So she went to live with a good friend while we were gone... The plan was to get her back when we returned... But at that point, 14 months later, they were so bonded to each other I just didn't have the heart to take her.

My boy Lycan just hit 18 weeks old today. Weighing in at 59.7 pounds yesterday. I'm going to need a bigger house.

Yikes! He's going to be a big boy! Might need to put a saddle on him.

If I ever moved to the country, I would get a dog. And yep, it would be a boxer, my favorite breed.

Hopefully sooner rather than later, my friend. Some property and a new pal to make you smile pretty much all the time would probably be pretty damn close to heaven for you.

Thanks man, I am pretty happy. Boxers are on this planet to remind us that life doesn't always have to be garbage.

Good grief... Lycan is a brute already, freaking awesome. I don't think Saxon is much older than Lycan and I think he is pretty stout for a Boxer, but he only weighs around half that. Just over 30 pounds.

Love boxers. Wish they lived longer.

Agreed. I got my first Boxer when I was a teenager and he lived to be around 8-9, cancer ended up taking him. He was a damned good dog, I will have to see if I can find a pic of him. My second Boxer was barely two years old when heart disease took her a couple of years ago. Sucked hard...

I am hoping to do everything right by this guy; only the best of food, good exercise and very regular checkups. I don't want any surprises this time around...

Do you guys have any tips on how to make the Bundok a bit better? I'm forcing myself to try other blades than the ones I'm used to (the 4 and 9) for chopping, delimbing trees and saplings, ...
I'm trying to get used to the 21 and the Bundok. The 21 has a weight advantage and it wields somewhat, yet not quite, as the 4 - which I use the most -. I still have to get used to it but it works.
The Bundok, I gotta say I really like the looks of it. What I've noticed is that it works very well for delimbing branches that are just under or over an inch think in diameter.
However, for smaller twigs which the 4 just pops off, I seem to fail every single time. They just flex and don't pop off.
Maybe I need to change the grind or something? I guess stripping won't do much. Much appreciated!

I dunno, I've stripped many a fallen tree with my 20 and I've had no issues with the smaller twigs. Perhaps a sharper edge is needed?

I put a 20° convexed edge on @nutoknives Bk20 and the same on my 29. Damn the diameter the branch hits the ground:)

Yea man we're trying to keep his weight down as much as possible to prevent joint and hip issues later... But he just keeps getting bigger. He's not fat by any means. Last couple ribs are clearly visible... He's just blocky, lots of bone and lots of muscle already.

We're guessing he'll be around 150 pounds like his daddy. I'd honestly rather he top out around 130.
