Awesome looking shelter mewolf! I'm rather ignorant when it comes to snow shelters so forgive me for asking but what are the sticks throughout your roof for?

Put the sticks in at a certain length 12" at the base, 10" or so in the middle, 8" on top. Just dig til ya hit sticks and stop diggin and you'll have uniform wall thickness.:thumbup:
 
what can i have with me when i do this..can i bring a sleeping bag and tarp for warmth or must i rely on just my clothing and shelter?
 
Small quinzee, made for fun.
Started with fairly thin snow cover (about 2-3")
Could have slept curled in it. Not great but OK.
Many details wrong but mostly wanted to get an idea about how much work it would take.
Should have kept a higher ground narrowed the door and shovelled more snow above.
Have learned a few tricks. Will do better next time.

well i need some tips/basic guidelines for building a shelter, for this will be my first one due to the fact i have almost 4 foot of snow outside right now. and i apologise in advance for crappy phone pics that will be forthcoming later
 
I was never able to get a night in my shelter. Never got cold enough after I
made it. But it was fun building the shelter, and definitely an experience builder.

My wife and I took a short hike over to the shelter last week, and found that it
was still standing.
The door was gone, and it was pretty evident that someone or something had
been using it over the winter. There were bones from a few birds laying about
10 feet away from the campsite, although no evidence of a fire, so I'm thinking
an animal of some sort. The shelter had definitely been slept in though.

Good to know that it was used.
Anybody know who won yet?
