Snowing Here & Your Carry Model

Tony, Great. The Colonel would approve. He was raised at Seward. For a gentleman to ask the Colonel for his baby daughter's hand. HE had better express proper protocol during the asking. And it doesn't hurt to gift him a Limited Edition Buck knife. DM

Thanks for the snowy pictures. Looks really nice. We got close to 60 here today, blah. Still hoping for a White Christmas. Today I went with a 503 in my front pocket and a 110 50th Anniversary in the back.

Thanks BS. (I've been wanting to do that.) That 110 is a handsome model. We're at 26* and steadily falling. The snow will develop a crust over night. We'll welcome the sun in the morning. DM

Out in the yard today with my drop point 110 on my belt, same as every day. In the 60's here in New England. Sure doesn't fell like typical December weather!

think Makael got over looked on his question where the photos were located. As I have said before, DM lives near the end of the road and the power lines, up in the high desert of SW New Mexico. Right beside the mountain lion den.

Von, thanks. Which drop point 110 do you carry? The one Buck Collectors Club offered with paperstone handles. Or one of the newer one? DM

David, I'm just 30 minutes east of the Colonel in the home of the Big Red, Lincoln Nebraska. As Joe can probably attest, the rains have come to this part of the state this evening, with thunder and lightning too, but only 40°. Definitely strange for December. Like BuckShack, I've been carrying my 503 lately, fits nicely in the watch pocket.

Yes, on the Continental Divide. This could be why we get hit with storms. The moisture laden air pushes in from Calif., crosses Arizona and climbs up the divide, encountering the cold air mass. This causes the moisture to start freezing, it stalls and sits on top of us and dumps. My fruit trees don't make it. I have grown from seed probably the only Carpathian Walnut trees in our county. This tree is doing well here and seems to be more cold tolerant. He's correct, we do have bear and lions move through. Today I carried this one. DM

Checking on horses in the storm hitting us tonight. Snapped this.

plb, welcome to the Buck Forum. The Colonel tells me on University Ave. in Lincoln on game day the automobile dealers will line the front row nearest the street with red & white cars. In support of their team. I wonder if there is a Bucklite with a silked screened blade for the Corn Huskers? DM

Zieg, thanks. Hope they are fine and have some shelter to get in out of this freezing wind. Good photo of your 110. DM

Thanks BS. (I've been wanting to do that.)

BS, That's great! I never thought of that. :D

I have a question concerning your knife. I've seen it a few times now and I've been trying to figure this out on my own. I give up. Why are the blades red?

I'm glad you took it well. I procured my model 334 from Stumps 'as new'. In unfinished condition this year. It's a Camillus made model 334, of the Millennium series offered in 2000. Before they closed their doors. I suspect during their factory closing sale, someone got the parts and assembled one of these knife's with the intention of selling them. It was quickly put together and not finished. The red on the blade is machinist layout dye. I didn't want to remove it, so all could see it was a pre-sale knife. Not one offered thru Smokey Mountain. As this model got a silk screen wording on the blade (2000 yesterday - today & tomorrow). They were offered with smooth delrin and brown gigged bone handles a Smokey Mountain exclusive. Craig has a nice photo of them in this. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...(12-12-2010)?highlight=334+Millennium+Trapper

I've been working on it and carrying it. I procured a Buck shield from George that fit. So, different ones have been helping me with it. Only the drop point blade is sharpened. I carry it in a 110 sheath. It's a good fit. I will sand and buff it some more. Then take the dye off with Flitz and sharpen the Spey blade. It is a last Camillus,- Buck, just not one offered by Smokey Mountain Knife Works. DM

David…I'm glad you are using that knife.
I enjoy seeing the occasional photos of your knife out there in the "Land of Enchantment"! :)

Thanks Stumps. It's 25* here this morning, no clouds. With a 20 mph westerly wind. All water is frozen. I've cut a cord of oak and am keeping the house warm. Other than this we are fine. You gents will have to put up with me today. DM

Here's a better shot of the Buck shield. Snow is deep in the high country this morning. DM

David the only Buck I had on me today was a 302, a plain black model. Nothing fancy. I hate to tell you but it was around 85 today. The only reason it was not near 100 is that it rained all day. My air conditioner went out week and I only just got it repaired. Whew! Thank the good Lord for the clouds and rain until it was fixed!

David

It's 62 here and way to warm for December. I almost want your snow, almost. Ours will be here soon enough I suppose. I have the snowblowers ready and waiting. I have my studded tires on and get looks from people I pass as the noise makes them look.

As far as what I'm carrying, it's my 110 on the belt and a 301 from my son in a front pocket.

I really like that Buck you are carrying. I've never seen one, but it looks like a good carry option. I might have to start carrying my 317 again.

PLB - just wanted to say hi but can't PM you yet till you post a few more times. Welcome to the forums. I'm in Wahoo, so only about 35 miles or so north of you. Small world on the 'net sometimes. :)

Sorry to clutter the thread......
