So, how many of you smiths can get by on just a press?

I sold the 100lb Big Blue hammer and only have the 25 ton press.

Learning how to make them work for you is the trick, whichever one you use.

Those LG's would look better if you painted them the same color; when is that going to happen Don?

Ya know Fred, I haven't thought about that. But you are right.
The new one might have too much grease & oil on it now for paint?
 
Sure Don remembers the day that picture was taken turned my world up side down. My whole trip back to florida was spent figuring out how to get rid of a 40lb. trip air and get a bigger hammer.
 
I have a tire hammer Clay Spencer built for me and I dearly love it-for a mechanical hammer it's extremely precise, there's no searching for obsolete parts, and for a 50lb hammer it has a very small footprint.
Never used a press, but given how many long drawouts I do it'd likely not be for me.
