So, how many pushups can you do?

You guys need to try crossfit...healthy isn't just about being strong, you need endurance and stamina too, get that heart rate up! If your not puking your not pushing hard enough! (joking but only a little):D

i just did a shot of yager, then a shot of sambuca, and finaly i shot of crown royal after 6 flying fish summer ale.... so pushups? na not tonight, i will try tommorow... lol

Wow, all that walking on crutches has really built up some arm muscles... dropped to the floor and did 33 straight. Never done so many in my life.

that's cuz your leg muscles atrophied :)

i haven't done pushups in a while. used to rip out as many as the teacher said to, be it 60 or 100. bah :) should get back into that.

crossfit: getting strong fast, but not too fast, or you'll damage all your soft tissues, and be really sorry.

my advice to you: wear sunscreen, and be kind to your knees, you'll miss them when they're gone.

About 40yrs ago as a young pup in Da Nang, we'd have contests to kill time and win beer money. Drop your cash in a bucket, and do push-ups or chin-ups until you drop, winner take all. After a few months, it was nothing to punch out 200 push-ups. Form wasn't perfect for the last few dozen, but style didn't win points. That was when I was about 4" shorter and 80lbs lighter.

Now at 62 years of age, at 6'8", 260lbs, I'm not even going to try one. :) I still walk a few miles a day, do laps around the pool and work around the ranch, but I'll leave the calisthenics to the young guys.

Upper body was never my strong suit. When I was in football I was doing 250 push ups and 250 ups 2x a day. But I was also in the gym a week for 3 hours a day...

Now I just did 7 of them... I should get back into this.

I found this Tabata timer and have been doing many of my exercises to this, give it a go with your push-ups but don't go at it like a bull at a gate or you'll pay for it towards the end !

http://www.tabatatimer.com/

Let me know how you find it !

When I was training for Law Enforcement I was able to throw out 58 without stopping.
3 years and 20 lbs later... No idea.

Holy resurrected thread, Batman!

Although if one were to rez an old thread, this is one hell of a way to do it. Style points for Cobra!

I haven't done pushups in a while, but the last time I tried was a few months ago during a week when I couldn't get to the gym. I think I can usually do about 60-70 in a row.

That said, I'm only 25, and I hit the gym 3-5 times a week while school is in session.

Also, not quite related, but I hit a personal best max on bench a few weeks ago so I'm pretty happy right now :).

Wow, this is an oldy. My father-in-law is a high-altitude Olympic weight trainer, and I'm working through his program (which is unique, and pretty interesting for those of you who do weight training). I do about 6-8 hours of free weights per week, trying to get back to where I was, since I took like 8 months off from working out. I'd love to be able to bench one of each weight of plate (290 total, I believe). Can only do 70 pushups in a row though. New goal, 70 hand-stand pushups in a row. Also, clap pushups, but have to be able to clap BEHIND my head. Used to be able to do those back in the day.

And re cobra, he's also got mad skills, since he can type while doing pushups too.
