So I broke my Rat Daddy

Even if the op doesn't reveal the details we can assume he got a better deal by getting Jerry to post here than by following the normal procedure.

Is the take home message if a rare Busse breaks that one wouldn't get the best possible replacement via proper warranty channel but that one has to be more creative in ones approach?

It is really too bad that the OP allowed the thread in the first place. Probably should have contacted Jerry on his own rather than constantly stirring the pot over 18 days on the public forum. Then when a resolution is reached he goes dark on us. I guess I can understand, kind of :)

Great job on Jerry Busse for coming to the rescue!!!

I guess it all worked out

Normally when you buy something and you break it, you get nothing. That is unless you pay a monthly or annual insurance fee, and then you will generally get an item at full price, less a deductable. Or, at time of purchase, you can shell out a hefty additional chunk for a 2-3 year limited warranty.

Getting full initial price credit after beating the hell out of a knife for years is an amazing deal. It means you got all of those years free. The standard Busse & kin warranty is pretty rad in my book. I would never feel entitled to more.

Very generous of Jerry Busse.

Sorry guys. I hope you never find yourselves in my shoes. Rest assured Busse will do what they can to help you.

The "normal procedure" involves Jerry being informed when someone manages to break a Rat Daddy. He said it himself. He wished he had seen it sooner, and taken proper care of the situation.

Enough is enough.

OP, please close the thread that should have never be created in the first place.

As you stated earlier, it's between you and Swamp (Jerry) and should have ever been dragged out like it has.
Just close it and post 'thank you' picture thread when you get what it's coming.

If he posts a picture thread then he will reveal the DEAL between he and Swamp. Probably not a good thing to do in this secret knife club :)

And I'm the one stirring the pot?

You guys really turn negative quickly.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. I'm not really sure what everyone is so bent out of shape over. This is not the climate I became accustomed to when I joined the Bussekin family.

Why is it a bad thread?

Op got a better deal or at least the one he was supposed to get to begin with.
All others learned something in the process.

Even if he had posted it after managing to contact Jerry it would be the same information.

-cool knife broke
-warranty process was by design or accident not adequate in getting a similar knife
-then Jerry helped out

I'm sorry. How does one do that? I'd be happy to.

At the top of the page is a "bar" with menu-headers on the right including "Administrative" - click on that to see a drop-down menu of options, one of which will be "Close Thread" - fill the dot, then click "proceed". If you desire to re-open the thread at anytime, you can do so via the same method.

My thoughts exactly.

Some of these threads do take a negative turn pretty quickly.

What I take away from this thread is that Sampras (Bussey family knives) have a fantastic warranty.

More importantly, the companies, and Boss Busse take a direct interest in the satisfaction of their customers.

Limited production and old discontinued models that drastically increase in value makes it much harder to simply swap a blade.

But, it also makes for many more interesting models and new, exciting opportunities around every corner.

I have always loved Jerry's attitude on this forum.

Thanks, Jerry!
