So the Strider Warranty...

Why are you even worring about what it will look like? Every Strider I've had comes scatched from the shop. If you send it out your only asking for a problem, lost in shipping, time at shop...

My S30V seems soft, but YMMV.

Buy it and beat on it. If you worry about how the knife/you look a Strider is not for you.

outlaw, just wander over to the badlands forums and see for yourself.

I do hang out there and on several other forums as well (K.F.,U.S.N.,J.Devil,Romo,EDC,Micro). The only bashing I see there is from lurkers or people who want purity knives (why any one would by a tactical knife and expect a purity knife is beyond me)
If I do something stupid to a knife I pay the price. I don't expect someone else to. However Strider does and that says allot.

mine isnt a drawer baby-i bought it for work, im in the trades and wanted a hard use edc-
but i still think for the $$ it should have better qc,and a fitted lockup-

i could care less about the looks,i have a xm18 for those days-

My limited experience with Mick, Duane, and the rest of the SK consortium has been overwhelmingly positive. Seriously. They took the time to talk to me and figure out which knife would best suit my needs, and then sat around and shot the breeze with me for a good half hour - despite the fact that they were really busy. Mick can come off as abrasive. That's because if he is cool with you, then he is. But if he thinks you are talking trash to him or about him, he has no qualms about telling you to go crap in your hat. He'll even provide you with directions. He's not so customer service oriented that he follows the adage that "the customer is always right." And that rubs some people the wrong way. But I can summarize all this by saying that Strider Knives is an honorable company run by good guys who make excellent, reliable knives and stand behind their work 100%.[/QUOTE]
Yes! This is what I have been trying to get at. I hear the same thing about other knife companys like "I bought this MT new payed $400.00 for it and it has a pin prick scratch WWWAAAA!" Come on I use my knives and carry them they all have scratches eventually LOL. When I buy a new truck I through a transmission case in the bed for a week so it gets dinged up and looks like a truck. If I see one more fancy girly truck I am going to dump a load of horse manure in it's bed!:D

So you are willing to spend good money on blemished products but can't understand someone who wouldn't? And then you seem to say that anyone who has VALID problems with them is a basher? You are definitely their target audience. As was I until I got sick of it. That leaves more for you though in the end.:)

outlaw, I see you completely avoided the customer treatment based on a legitimate issue (eg bladeplay) as specifically referenced above.

If that's the kind of company you like to keep, that's fine. It's not fine for others.

Strider is a nice guy when you meet him in person. If you're in NYC, drop by the show this friday-sunday and you can talk to him

heard back from strider about the lock-they say its how they design them so they wear longer & better-and they would take a look at the g10-

well since the lock was my biggest issue i guess as a work edc i can overlook the g10

You mean they did not curse at you and spit upon you? Threaten your firstborn child? Denigrate your heritage and lineage? Kick your dog and leave your hot water running until there was none left for your shower? Drink all of the chocolate milk in the fridge and not buy a new carton? Geeze, I thought that was the kind of people they were!

FWIW, the few times I have dealt with them they have been friendly, helpful, and professional.

They are crude hell yes. Men can be sometimes. They are all former military as was I, also I can tell ya I heard and learned plenty of ways to turn someone ears red and blue. So what? Crude rude men make it possible for you to sleep safely at night.

They build a strong product that is meant for work, not beauty contests.

If you want pretty buy a sebenza! Just dont buy a wimp knife then whine about it bending or breaking!

Obviously you only say that, sir, because you also are a crude and savage ruffian, not fit for human companionship in a social setting. :D

And I could not agree more. My Striders are for, what I consider, "hard use". I do not want them to be pretty or pristine or spotless. I simply expect them to be solid, dependable, and effective. I have actually found, over the years, that "pretty things" tended to be much less durable and effective in the field. Take, for instance, the F-16...a sleek, beautiful bird, all sweeping lines and sexy angles...very pretty to look at. But not terribly well suited for the ground attack role they have recently tried to force it into. On the other hand, we have the A-10...the venerable "Warthog". Uglier than some former First Ladies. Butt ugly. Butt ugly, mean, tough, durable, and incredibly effective. Like my Strider knives. I still have a few pretty knives and I often carry one on those rare and hated occasions when I find myself constricted by a coat and tie. But when I go to work, it is a Strider in my pocket.

PS - I'm former Active Duty myself, but, as an Officer, I, of course, did not associate with such ruffians and ne'er-do-wells as those fellows who work at Strider and a223cat. We were, at all times, civilized gentlemen of combat, poised to do battle with an expensive cigar in one hand and a chilled martini in the other. Just the thought of spending time with the unwashed masses makes me shiver. ;)

yea right! In the army the officers send the enlisted out to do war. In the marines the officers send the enlisted out to do war. In my Air Force, the enlisted and NCO's send the officers out to do battle!

I would say as an old NCO I had it about right! (sir!)

how i understand it is they will fix it or replace it if you break it. refinishing will cost money and take time, a long time. looks like sharpening is free. strider likes his knives to be used. i heard a story at plaza cutlery: while at a show a customer approached mick strider to show off his mint knife. mick took the knife, looked at its pristine condition, proceded to chop at a metal usher pole, and handed the knife back. that is how your knife should look!

for more warranty details check the strider site faqs, there are warranty explanations there.

That's a hilarious story. I wonder if it is true though. Maybe Mick should just do those to all his knives before he sends them to his customers. Kinda like those old jeans that you see hanging on the racks in the mall.

Plenty of us were in the military and are in front-line professions and don't have to be crude just to make our point come across. From my experience, it means they've probably run out of valid points and have to go "hard-core" to make up for their lack of meaningful opinions.
And I would hardly call a Sebenza "wimpy" just because it isn't marketed towards Bad Asses.

they guys at plaza cutlery are pretty good friends with mick strider. and i cant imagine they would make it up. based on what i have heard and read about him, it sounds perfectly 'in character' to me. i would have loved to have been there to see it, as long as it wasnt my knife.:D
