So there's a ton of big ZTs out (or on their way)... when do we get little ones?

I'm sure we'll be seeing titanium framelock conversions for the 0566 offered by a few "pimpers"/modifiers here on the forums.

I like the 0350TS I bought for my son. I LOVE the 0550 that is in my pocket right now. I am pretty sure I am going to like the 0301 I just ordered from Dave.

BUT I'd love to see,and buy, a 3" blade Ti frame lock from ZT. You see the state right next door to me has a 3" blade limit....taking the 0550 out of my pocket and just carrying my SAK isn't that much fun. :(

I've also been hoping ZT would release a 3" (or slightly smaller) version of the 0550 or 0560/61 with a premium steel maintaing the Ti framelock. I emailed ZT a few months ago but they stated they have no plans to build one at present. I know its overkill but I want a rugged design like ZT's but simply don't like carrying a larger folder for a variety of reasons. I'm on the waiting list for the 0566 but it's still larger than I like and I'm not really sold on the design or steel frame lock.

I'm excited about the 0566, but I wish it had the 3D G10 scales and Titanium frame-lock side. I'm actually ok with settling for Stainless Steel instead of Titanium, but the 3D scales are hard to turn loose of.

Either way, I'm getting one for sure.

For a small 3" folder with a beefy blade I'm getting the upcoming LionSteel SR2 Mini made from a block of titanium for the handle and Sleipner steel blade. The blade is a stout 0.157" thick (thicker than the ZT 0550) and overall weighs in at 4.9 oz.

If ZT makes something as compact and beefy I'll get one of those too.

AND I'm getting one of those! The Acies 2 and the SR2 should arrive tomorrow.

I wonder if ZT is listening?
As much as I like the new designs I'm passing on all of them because they are just too big.

I have all the big folders I want. They are mostly my outdoors users.
3" or less is where it's at for me. I'll never stop buying that size because that's what I EDC.

ZT has its boutique line as well as regular, but:

ZT: Serious Missions, Serious Knives

I love that. I like the smaller varieties too, but Kershaw fills that role nicely.

They've stated that they want to grow the brand beyond the tactical/hard use market, and I for one am very glad of that.

Can't wait for my 0770!

With all the different opinions, preferences, want's, needs, and desires, I think we're more confused than anything else. Not sure we could make enough patterns to satisfy. :p

I still don't think the factory edge on the pocket clips are sharp enough. You can never tell when you might need those for a thumb duel or something.

If you folks listened to everything everyone wanted, we would all be flipping burgers with ELMAX spatulas by now.

Wait a minute, you guys want ELMAX kitchen utensils, office gadgets and other sundry items? If ELMAX isn't hardened to 62 HRC it isn't any good, but KAI has already stated they only harden to 59 HRC, obviously staples will be too soft to puncture paper, the spatula will be as flimsy as a wet noodle I'm afraid to imagine what might happen with the baseball spikes. As fickle as the forums are it's no wonder KAI Corp is confused, on the bright side, whatever the forum wants really bad today will probably be undesirable in 3 months and whatever is in the R&D process right now and isn't getting much excitement today will be exactly what everybody wants by the time it hits store shelves.

Yes, kornphlake. We all want sundry ELMAX items because we all have a sensational sense of humor.

Once the KAI ELMAX Spatch comes out, i'll be waiting to add it to my collection of S90V chopsticks and M390 napkins. If anyone hears about a CPM 3V tablecloth let me know.

This. This is hilarious.

I, for one, see no reason why ZT can't make a smaller EDC knife that still has (ridiculously high) quality materials, fit, and finish. Look, even Emerson, home of the clunky folder, has the mini A-100, which I sort of like, except for the chisel grind. For this amount of money (when you can find one at all), you'd think they could give me a V-grind, you know? And then there's Emerson's famous fit and finish.... >.>

Given Emerson's success with the Mini A-100, I'd think there's room for a ZT kind of 3" folder.

I have a 0561, an 0560CBCF, an 0801, and an 0600, so I think I'm moderately familiar with the large end of the ZT line. I, too, would like something smaller, perhaps not as elegant as a Ripple, an Eros, or a <cough> William Henry. ZT, of course, being the intial letters in that classic Latin phrase meaning "No girly-man knives!"

While I'm thinking about it, I think both Kershaw and ZT are missing a bet by not seriously competing in the gent's folder category. Yeah, yeah, Leek. I have a Leek and I love it, but it's not what I'm talking about. Maybe there has to be another brand that can successfully compete there.
