So What Are You Eyeballing?

I really like the Case 08 half whittler pattern. Been eyeballing them on the auction site but waiting to see one in the new indigo pocket worn bone that actually shows the scales as opposed to a stock photo.

C'mon Calvin - just press that buy now button and tell you lovely Wife a bit later on.
Whew what a beauty that is!

The list is really endless; it seems that everytime I come to BF or visit an online shop to browse, something else gets added to the list. Surprisingly, a lot of Case knives have planted an itch in the back of my mind. I like the antique bone, single spear Barlow, the Slimline Trapper, the Mini Copperlock, the wharncliffe Mini Trapper, the Texas Jack, etc. There are other knives that I've wanted for years but could never pull the trigger on: the A.G. Russell Pinched Peanut and Moki Small Kronos with Amber Carved Stag Bone. I've designed a small fixed blade that I would like JK Knives to make for me, and Arno Bernard's smaller knives in 3/32" stock with Warthog Tusk have been on my mind for about 2 years now. Then, there's the vintage stuff... Haha.

I know we have the threads for what's on the way and the latest acquisitions, but I'm curious to know what you're pondering. Maybe you're trying to decide on the next purchase or maybe you're trying to choose a special save-up-for buy or maybe even a custom commission.

Tell us what you're ogling and maybe even why. Maybe you'll talk yourself into or out of it as time goes on. I just think it will be interesting and informative to have some insight.

Me?

Right now I'm looking at:

Miguel Nieto Amigo with cocobolo scales. Just a cool looking knife at a decent price.

I will also, at some point, buy a Case Sowbelly and Barlow. One of them will be in yellow Derlin. Not sure which but one of them for sure. Classic! And a Case Large Stockman is really talking to me. I have to admit that I have a fondness for square bolsters so to my eye it's a good looking piece. But I also like the multiple blades and the beastiness of it. Although, the beastiness of it might also be a downfall. I suppose there's only one way to know... :)

So, how about you folks?
Maybe this will influence you. A single blade Case sowbelly in yellow delrin and CV.IMG_6292-800x646.JPG

I have one of the 3 5/8" Gunstocks and it's an incredible knife. I'm over the moon impressed with it.
Amen brutha! My collection amounts to about a dozen EDC’s. I also have the A.G. Russell Boxcar which is a cool / fun knife, but the Gunstock is my favorite of all. Their Barlow style is my favorite Barlow.

The 2019 Forum knife is a definite buy. Possibly the GEC 97 in Yellow Rose...please also see my signature.

Im really psyched about the forum knife. I am not sure if ive been a member long enough, and depending on release date, the budget may be a factor, but I really like it and want it at some point!

Sorry, but even though it says I’ve been here since 2000, I went 18 years without logging in. (How is that possible???). Anyway, what is the Forum knife?

I've been eyeballing the Bose thread, Tony and Reese make just about the best looking cutlery I've ever seen. It's unbelievable how good their knives look.

I want one of their sowbelly stockmans. Real. Bad. That ain't gonna happen... but you asked what I been eyeballin'.

There is currently a buying list of the 2019 Traditionals Forum Knife. It is still open, but it requires that one has participated, excluding sales. You could, after reading the requirements, appeal(request) dispensation.

I used to always seem to have my eyes set on some "new things", (a wishlist), but have changed my course within the past year or so. It used to be that the additions to my collection were usually items made within the past 10 years, mostly being new items from knife vendors.
Now, instead of my having those specific models, styles, or makers items in line as my next wants, I have been leaning towards an open mind on what will be the next thing to enter my collection. Now it's more likely that what I add will be vintage or antique, and usually a much less commonly found item. It will also likely be a spontaneous purchase.
I have been enjoying the search and thrill of finding unique items. This search has included my buying online, at thrift stores, gun/knife shows, and at flea markets.
The knack I have for finding these items, and being armed with some basic knowledge on certain things to look out for, has helped me in scoring on what I consider to be very cool gadgets, (which of course includes traditional folding and fixed blade knives).
All this has sparked new excitement into my collecting hobby, and has actually been costing me less money in doing so.
You see, part of the fun has been finding these cool things at ridiculously low prices... A "thrill of the kill" feeling comes along with that.
Some of my friends have seen my fb posts pertaining to my latest finds, and have not only been impressed at what I've found and purchased for such little money, but some have even physically joined me in these searches, (at thrift stores, gun/knife shows, & flea markets). This has added some more quality time with some of my friends.

It's been a win win situation with this new course I've taken.
It's been hard for me to justify buying newly manufactured items, when the vintage and antique items I buy have been had at such low cost, and are made of such a hard to find bygone quality. I am a condition freak, (meaning that I want my "stuff" to be in really nice shape), and even that has not been a problem in my newly taken course. I simply seek out these vintage and antique items that are only in great condition... That too is part of the fun.

The next thing on my wishlist?... I really don't know, it will be a surprise to me as well ;)

I’ve been forever thinking about having a custom made to my needs, until now it’s been a dream, but I think that this year is the moment.
I know exactly what I want after years of trying different knives.
a four blader like case 64047pu but on a 3 5/8” frame serpentine or equal end, stag or ebony, California Clip main, punch and Two whittling blades scimitar shape one a little bigger and one smaller for detail carving.
Everything in O1 or similar fine grained carbon steel.
So in a little while I’m gonna sell almost everything and begin searching for a maker that would be willing to do it
