So What Are You Eyeballing?

I’m hunting the Eureka Jacks pretty hard. They don’t pop up very often. When it does, I’m all over it.

I also need a red micarta 78 to complete my red, white and blue 78 trio.

Other than that, trying to abstain as much as possible. I got into this hobby/addiction in January and took the shotgun approach. 40 knives in 2 months seems excessive :D

I’m always eyeballing an A.G. Russell knife. My favorite EDC is the A.G. Russell Gunstock.
Yes, I'm with you (and Railsplitter Railsplitter ). I have both sizes. They're great. The recurve clip-point is a wonderful profile. Probably my favorite blade shape in my collection.

The list is really endless; it seems that everytime I come to BF or visit an online shop to browse, something else gets added to the list. Surprisingly, a lot of Case knives have planted an itch in the back of my mind. I like the antique bone, single spear Barlow, the Slimline Trapper, the Mini Copperlock, the wharncliffe Mini Trapper, the Texas Jack, etc. There are other knives that I've wanted for years but could never pull the trigger on: the A.G. Russell Pinched Peanut and Moki Small Kronos with Amber Carved Stag Bone. I've designed a small fixed blade that I would like JK Knives to make for me, and Arno Bernard's smaller knives in 3/32" stock with Warthog Tusk have been on my mind for about 2 years now. Then, there's the vintage stuff... Haha.
As someone with two that you mentioned on your list, the Moki and an Arno in warthog, I would say they're both excellent pieces. Some of my favorites. Expensive but well worth it.

What am I eyeballing is the topic asked by the OP.
Let’s see, I am looking a a SFO that an online retailer has from Buck. It is a pair of Buck 501s in micarta; one is black and the other green. It uses s35 blade steel.

The other is a SFO by SK knives’ it is also a Buck 501 with burlap and it is a bare head.

All are tempting choices.

I'd say my current "serious" eyeballing involves various and sundry Victorinox models. I'd like to pick up a "full size" SAK (e.g., Tinker or Huntsman or Fieldmaster) with special covers: maybe a Warhawk/Warthog/MemphisBelle from DLT or a Baseball cover like @Prester John has. I'm always looking for Alox SAKs that fit my budget, maybe in some color other than silver (Pioneer, Farmer, Electrician, Cadet, not sure what else might be out there in what colors). I'm window-shopping for some inexpensive Vic models like Florist or Daypacker or whatever the model is that replaced the Pocket Pal. And I stay alert for bargains on "old cross" Alox in case I'm lucky enough to stumble across an opportunity.

I have lots of canoes already, but look for more that are different from what I already have and aren't too pricey for me; same for sowbelly stockmans and for stag models of many patterns.

Paraphrasing the old Johnny Cash hit,
I keep a close watch on this checkbook of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time

I’m eyeballing a 2015 Charlie Campagna UN-X-LD Diamond #15 Navy Rope Knife. Such wonderful detailing. A cream puff of a knife. Without being taken to the cleaners.:) Come to Pappa!

Love my cranberry Rope Knife, some of the best jigging to come out of GEC and the little rope details really set it apart. Very people friendly too.

Some of those gorgeous Lionsteel Shufflers, got this one just recently, and I want more.

Looking at a couple of Helle knives...

But mostly a Hinderer.

I have one of the 3 5/8" Gunstocks and it's an incredible knife. I'm over the moon impressed with it.

Great, just what I need is another knife on my radar! That A.G. Russell Gunstock is nice!

I really like that blade shape, looks nice and stout. Reminds me of the SOG Jet Edge.....

I was just looking your model up on eBay and found one made in China. Are all of the A.G. Russel knives made there or is yours made there or somewhere else?

Thanks Jeremy!

A.G. Russell knives are made in a variety of countries but this particular model is made in China. Don't let that fool you though. A.G. didn't mess around when it comes to quality and neither does his wife, Goldie who runs the company now. I don't have any solid proof but I read that when A.G. received the first shipment of knives from his little shop in China, he rejected pallet loads of knives because they didn't meet his strict requirements for fit & finish and overall quality. Once the shop understood that he meant business, they started giving him what he demanded and it shows in these knives.

A.G.'s China made knives incorporate little features that you don't often find in other knives. Features like a striker pin to keep the blade edge from contacting the backspring upon closing, all stainless steel hardware, (no brass on these bad boys) and this particular model has a coil spring for the lock bar for longevity and ease of use.

I recommend that you try one out if you like what you see in the pictures and I also recommend buying it from the A.G. Russell website because of the no questions asked, iron clad lifetime warranty.

I took a chance on an A.G Russell China made knife about 4 years ago and I currently own 9 of them. I like that 3 5/8" Gunstock so much that I bought another one just like it. If you happen to try one out, I know you will be pleased.

Thanks for the info on that, I will give one a try. Without the endorsement I'd likely turn the other direction and run like I typically do when I see China on one.

It looks like it definately bucks the stigma.

Been thinking about a Case medium congress in CV. I try to stay away from any modern case knives because of the hit or (mostly) miss QC, but there’s a newer Congress with long pulls that’s really calling me. I just don’t want to be let down yet again by them. My fear is a nice natural patina setting in only to be blemished with horrible blade rub. Some rub I can deal with, but when it’s all over the place, it’s a real eye sore for me. Anyone have experience with one? Case medium Congress, jigged chestnut bone, CV, 7017 for reference.

6318 ss case stockman, may try and pick up on way home from florida.Visiting family in Fort Walton Beach are this week.Any places to seek out?Wife's daughter took us to Meguires yesterday

Green River or Old Hickory "Buffalo Skinner".
It'll "fit in" with my Hawken at any Rendezvous I manage to get to.

I stumbled across a tiny ulu fixed blade on etsy. The page said 1095, comes with a plastic sheath. I eyeballed it for all of 5 minutes before ordering one for $10. I ticks the unusual box for me.

I'm really starting to get into the Canoe patterns and have been eyeballing various offerings. I really like the tie-dye scales from Case. I know it's anything but traditional but I like 'em.

:)

I keep eyeballing vintage case on the big auction site. It’s an addicting hobby for me these days....6318, ‘32 etc....

I been eyeballing this FOX jungle bolo machete on EBAY. IDK if I will buy it or not being it is a 4116 Krupp steel. May be good on a larger chopper.
