I'm all aflutter.

Cold Steel is doing a lot of things that I have always wished they would do and I had pretty much assumed they never really would... Yet here they are.

The 4-Max is essentially a production AD-10, with 20CV steel and tight tolerances for about $350 retail price.

Weight: 9.2 oz.
Blade Thickness: 4.5 mm
Blade Length: 4"
Handle: 6" Long G-10 Desert Tan
Overall: 10"
Steel: CPM-20CV

I'll be getting one of these. Maybe not right away, but eventually. First and foremost, I'll be getting:

The new Hold Out I

Why? 6" FFG XHP

'nuff said.

If they come out with a XHP Tuff Lite, I'll be carrying really quite a bit of Cold Steel in the near future.

if they decide to put a handle on it that looks appropriate, the folding puukko

Totally agree, I'm really excited to see the 4-Max!!

I really hope they do it right!

The tactical katana machete and the Chinese war sword machete. And maybe the kukri Chaos. It confuses me somehow.

4-Max, Ultimate Hunter and Finn Wolf are on my short list.

Never thought I'd ever happily consider paying $300+ for a Cold Steel, but dang.

XHP American Lawman.

It's cool that they stepped it up to DLC coating BUT for my purposes as an EDC (nothing tactical or mall ninja) , I'd prefer it to be stonewashed and not black coated.

The Lucky tops my list, oddly enough, that and a Tiger Claw. I'm not a huge karambit guy, but I've put in plenty of time training with them, it looks about as practical as they can get, and I'll almost buy it just to check out the new one-handed Triad lock.

After that, I really like the look and spec line on the Swift. Not big on assisted open, but weight and blade-to-handle ratio both look about perfect.

I like a lot of their new stuff. Will probably purchase the new assisted model and maybe the karambit and the talon.

Black Talon 2, the Tiger Claw folding karambit, Finn Wolf, the Lucky, the new machetes, the full serrated XL tanto and clip point Voyagers, Shangai Warrior, maybe an XHP Hold Out 1 or Ti Lite 6'', possibly the Leathernecks in D2, probably that new thrower...hell, there's a LOT of their new lineup I want.

My local Canadian knife store has the old model 6" blade Hold-out [ which I own ] for $90.00 and the new model Hold-out [ which isn't in yet] for $199.00. So are you Mensa members really going to spend an extra $110.00 for virtually the same knife because it's made out of more expensive steel which will almost certainly not make the slightest practical difference to you!!!? If so, you guys have more money than you know what to do with. For a $110.00 you could buy another good quality knife.

Glad to know you're so worried about my spending habits and so informed about my needs. I'll shoot you an email to run my next purchase by you. ;)

You would be wise to maintain a less insulting and critical tone. This is a forum of people who already spend way too much on knives. Your local stores' pricing is not necessarily what I or others would pay for the item. Most of us shop around, apparently unlike you.

Chances are, that knife will ultimately cost me about $120 if I am patient and shop around. I could even get it in a trade for a knife I spent less for.

Edit: didn't notice my phone had autocorrected "too much" into "rooming." Good job, phone.

Cool they have the Leatherneck in D2 now which seems like a step up than that Krupp stuff... although it's no longer FFG. The Finn Wolf is also interesting, it's AUS8 but so what? Not a knife but that "Viking Hand Axe" has a certain appeal. As for Recon 1 I don't think I will re-buy the same knife in a new steel but it is tempting.

Well looking at my current Cold Steel knives I'm covered for the next 50 years.

That said, I definitely want a serrated Black Talon.

The XHP Ti Lite is tempting too.

And I will probably get a Large G10 Espada in XHP, already having the AUS8 XL.

One day I'll get the XHP aluminium Espada XL.

Ultimate hunter folder / Holdouts 2 and 3 / Drop Forged Hunter

hoooo wyahhhh!
