Yes Bill, that's the way I look at it. As for re-selling to fellow forum members on a forum that so often touts a feeling of "Brotherhood" and helping each other, a REASONABLE markup is certainly understandable. I just felt that this time was excessive, as supported by the Busse price sign on the table. If I'm lying, then nail my hide to the barn; if not, then don't threaten me with warnings, being banned, etc. Just the way I see things, and at Blade i will discuss this with Jerry himself.

Hey guys. This one looks awesome  Kind of a dumb question but will the g10 handles have the same cool brick pattern? I'm interested in a blue/black g10 one.

Got mine ordered, with black canvas, naturally, because this is going to be a user.

I am loving the thinness of this one, too. Given a choice I always opt for the thinner versions.

I agree with you R/G; I don't appreciate being a proxy for someone and then seeing them "flip" it for profit while I charged them actual price. However, I also don't go through the expense of attending Blade with the intent of buying a bunch of knives to re-sell at a greatly marked up price, especially as seen with the last Knob show. It's interesting as to how many folks here have great animosity for Liu Kang and his practices, but when done by certain "select" individuals it gets overlooked. I have purchased knives directly from some of the dealers here, and been quite happy with the deals. However, I don't believe that I paid as huge a mark-up as we have recently seen; again much appreciated. I proxy for folks who can't make the show as a way of genuinely helpng THEM, not myself. I certainly don't have to do it, and try to limit my offer to only one knife model per person in order to avoid the "flip for profit" approach.

I never mentioned any names, as I feel that folks can figure out who the parties are. I have "defended" re-sellers in the past when I thought they were helping folks with reasonable mark-ups. I felt that what we saw at Knob was just a classic case of pure greed, and I am disappointed with a couple of people, as I am sure they are with me. For my efforts, I have received a warning by one of the re-sellers whom I have dealt with in the past. I have been here and a Busse customer for quite a while, and don't expect that to change. However, the folks that I do business with will.

Tom

Get over yourself. What you do and what others do is just that. Eveyone has reasons and its not as easily simplified as you may think tom. Hell you marked them daggers you hoarded percentage wize damn near no different. So whats the cut off Tom? I try and sell less then anyone and guess what, I also pay the man for everyone of those sales. Did you pay the tax man on those daggers you profited from? You want to talk about whats right, did you pay taxes on those sales as by LAW you are required to do so.

Out of all the sub forums for this talk to happen.... People have been selling Infi for profit for as long as I have been around. It's part of what makes these knives so appealing whether you want to admit it or not. It has always been understood and embraced within reason. Hence the common names like "treacherous hogs" that get thrown around.

I personally never ask for proxy because I know many people rely on the sales just to pay for the expenses of the trip.

But I digress, haven't had coffee yet.

Get out and chop up some wood, come back and enjoy this great bunch of people. That's my advice anyway.

Much love,
Jonas

Picking up something for someone and simply charging them the purchase price is a favor: nice.

Claiming to do someone a favor and then charging more than the purchase price: sucks

Selling something someone got for you as a favor for a profit: sucks.

Marking something up wildly is not friendly and it sucks but that's capitalism.

Pretty simple.

I am a total new guy on BF and to Busse knives as well but certainly not to business as its my profession. To give somewhat of an outsiders look looking in it seems as though this is more of a personal issue than someone doing bad business because they marked up the price of a knife that they invested the time, money and effort to retrieve whether that be at Knob Creek or anywhere else. The market determines what a knife or any product will sell for. If people are charging too much then their product doesn't sell and in my opinion based on what the factory version is being priced at the protos are easily worth the market price that was being charged as you all know better than me that in in a year or two they will be worth more and so on.

No one here owns a car, clothing, food, gun or knife that they bought and did not manufacture themselves that somewhere in the food chain of distributors or dealers that didn't make a profit. I would suggest to anyone complaining or threatening to talk to the Big Man that they should call every CEO or company Owner of everything from their home insurance to the Lysol under their kitchen sink to think about that before doing so.

Here's a scenario. My buddy went to Knob Creek last week and picked up some knives. Just so happens I want one of the knives that is limited production of only 49. My friend took off work, drove to Knob Creek, invested money, time, paid taxes on the knives and on top of that he went to the post office and mailed it to me. Now, you tell me who is being unethical if I were to just offer him strictly the monetary value of the knife when he bought it?.....I would never do such a thing to a friend and I would never expect for him to think that my money is more important than his time and money. On top of that, I paid him within $20 of the standard factory model except I have a prototype of 1 in 49 soon and not in 3 months. HHmmm....

If your ticked about paying more than someone else did who made the investment the way to fix that would be to invest the time and money yourself and or get over it or just don't buy the knife that you don't have access to.

Sorry but business is business and its not personal unless you make it that way.

Perhaps your definition of "friend" is different than mine. I have gone out of my way, sometimes at significant personal expense, to pick things up/do favors for friends. I never have expected anything and never took anything extra. What goes around comes around and usually a time comes when a friend will do something for me...Because to me, that's just what a friend does.

Not reading through 3 some pages to find where this thread got derailed, but I would appreciate it if you folks let it get back to what it should be. Or...I can lock this one too.
Sick of the petty post KC Show crap that gets drug out all over this forum after every damn show...

Obviously, our definitions of a friend are different. If I wanted a "friend" to pick up a knife for me at the show I would have given him the money in advance so he wasn't out of pocket his own cash as I don't expect my friends to finance my buying or knife addiction's. We obviously treat our friends differently.

I agree and apologize Jaxx. I thought it was petty as well and that was the point of my post. Sorry I joined in derailing and I am super pumped to see the factory version available

Ordered...canceled...then reordered one in Tan and Black G10. Feelin good....Feeelin reeeeeaal good!

btw haters gonna hate

Well, it seems that this is a topic that is off limits seeing as any thread which discusses it gets locked by you mods. Nice to know that the internet is still free...... I didn't see that talking about this stuff was banned in the rules here, maybe I missed it so I'll throw in my .02 before the lock.....

We live in a country which is operated economically by capitialism..... like it or not it is what it is.

It's simple really, you're free to buy/sell whatever you want (mostly) and how much you pay/ask is up to you (not counting government laws). Any items value is determined by what people are willing to pay for them. If something is that overpriced then nobody would buy it, If the SOB Protos are selling for $150 over table price then are they really overpriced?

Now, If somebody wants to burn bridges with their proxies by flipping them for profit then that is their business and they must live with the consequences. I understand all the animosity though about this stuff, as I'm sure a few people regret paying the premium for the SOB's once they saw the table price posted.

I am definitely not a dealer here, but have bought and sold some Busse's that cost more than original pricing. Why not, if I would have sold them at original pricing then somebody would have likely bought them just to flip them later. If I bought them above original pricing, I understood this and accepted it because the seller had what I really had to have and felt the price wasn't too unreasonable.

When I sell anything, I set my price on the high side (hopefully not so high that it is offensive). Then slowly lower price until the item sells, I know of no other way to sell items without getting raped by predatory buyers. This way my items sell for exactly what they are worth, what people will pay for them...... :)

Come on guys, can't we just get along! I wanna see a red/black G10 to match my Anni Flying Mojo.:)

I'm sure the mods would allow it if a new thread post was opened up about it. In which case any member is more than welcome to share their thoughts. This forum post was intended to promote the SOB LE and allow everyone to relish in it's release with comments and questions. Oink

Yeah, I think Jaxx's issue is that lots of threads are getting invaded with this argument, not that the discussion is happening. But I'll tell you who doesn't care......SOB, cause honey badger don't give a &$%^.
