Sodbuster...and lots of them!

I just got my Bull Buster a couple days ago, it is very close in size to the large Case. Really nice and well built, I almost wish I had gotten the orange though...

I ordered one of the lockback Bullbusters as well in Natural Paper micarta, they look great from the pics. I'll make sure to post some pics when it lands.

Yes, the lockback was very tempting. Please let us know what you think of it, I would really appreciate that!

Just got back from our North West Knife Collector's show in Kelso, WA. Looking around I saw a stag handled Sodbuster, picked it up and noticed it had a tag on it for $5.00. Turned out to be a Carl Schlieper (Eye Brand) Model 99DSL. It opened smoothly, locked up tight, up with no side to side or up or down play, a very small amount of pepper spots on the right side near the tang, and no chips in the stag. I thought the price must be a mistake, so I asked the man, several times, if the $5.00 was correct and he said he had priced it to sell, so I bought it. I have a large and small pale yellow handled Carl Schlieper's and a Queen D2 Country Cousin, all of which I paid more for than this one. I had been looking for one but the store i usually buy from was out of them, and I see on line they are going new for $127. Next to a Remington Bullet I bought many years ago for $4.00, this is the second best buy I have ever had. Put a little mineral oil on the stag, soaked right in and the blade sharpened up nicely. I am one happy camper! John

Saw the new Bullbuster - too big for my needs. Still on the hunt for one in canvas (natural or green) micarta, but the only one I found so far had a healthy mark-up that was too much per my married math.

Decided to order the orange Bull Buster to go with my orange Bull Nose. Placed my order Friday evening and Bob had it in my mailbox when I got home today. Couldn't be happier. Biggest sodbuster I have and one of the nicest.

You guys are making this whole "holding off on buying one right now" thing very difficult.

I wish Case would return to using the larger bird's eye pivot in their bone offerings.:(

I really prefer the bird's eye pivot as well but with their jigging it will probably never happen. Maybe if they did a smooth bone they could do a bird's eye pivot.

My 21 Bullbuster in OD Canvas Micarta arrived today. Here it is next to its little brother 71 which isn't that little.

Looking good Brisket! I just received my Lockback version that was an SFO, it's really nice. I'll get some pics tomorrow and post it up with the regular Bullbuster.

Alnamvet68, ebony would be good:thumbup: I see that they have a jigged rosewood version coming out in the next month or so, but it will have the smaller pivot. It's good sign though that they are expanding the handle options, hopefully they continue this trend they have going. Maybe we'll see some non jigged wood handles with birds eye in the future!

In the mean time, we can try to catch our breath when viewing these custom Case Soddy's in ebony by a retired fellow who's no longer taking any work....

That Green is SO nice!
And thanks for the pix of your gorgeous customs, 68.
At this time, it's GEC before Case.

The custom ebony wood soddies are nice and I know you've petitioned for a run of them from Case.

Choosing Case, GEc or Queen soddies is a matter of personal opinion, so no one is right or wrong. My opinion, the GEC is about as good as it gets for the pattern and would be my pick if I had to settle on one knife. If price were the factor, then a case yellow cv at half the price would be the winner. no matter which way you go, you have a winner in my book.
