Sodbuster...and lots of them!

John, I'd have to see the bump you are referring to but it could be that the spring pin is too close to the surface causing a slight rise. Feel free to post pics if you have one!

Congrats on the new soddie Dp!

I have my Damascus Case soddies in the mail, I'll get a few pics up when they land. I also scored a Queen Country Cousin in black Micarta, first I've seen of one of those. Also, according to the Case Spring catalog, they are releasing a few new soddies. Rasberry Bone, Burnt Oatmeal Carved Bone and Hunter green!

This is a neat old Case...

A liner lock slip joint with a nice strong back spring. This one isn't going to close unless you want it to.

Here's the other older one I have. I love the even & very dark patina it's developed over the decades.

Both of these were my Dad's and I acquired them when I was a kid. I like the older Case Sodbusters more than the current models. The handles are a tad thicker and well rounded making them more comfortable in hand. The ricasso is also smaller giving the knife a longer cutting edge that ends closer to the handle. I'd like to find another 70's carbon Sodbuster (that won't have the same sentimental value) in good shape to carry.

John I have a few of the yellow schlieper sodbuster Jr's I purchased a few years ago and they all have that bump.

I got a Carl Schlieper stag handled Sodbuster at our local show, but recently noticed a "Bump" on the back spring about 1/2 inch from the pivot pin. I figured out that it is there to contact the tang of the blade when closed, so the sharp edge does not hit the spring. I have a large and small, yellow handled Schlieper and neither of them have this nice feature. Does anyone else's Sodbuster have a bump on their back spring? John

What Trevor said!
Are these liner lock soddies available today?
rolf

They're not produced today by Case but they can be picked up on the bay. There is a china made Remington version called the Shotbuster, even ribbed like a shotgun shell. They come in green and black and are 4 3/4' long, also found on the bay but for much cheaper.

This is not a very good pic. I was trying to capture the yellows of my Tele and CV SB together. Didn't come out like I wanted but oh well. Do enjoy the sodbuster from time to time. Such a timeless classic.

Thanks! And like Trev said, unfortunately not new nor widely available from my searches. :(

That one looks like it could be a great bang for the buck user.

I have a few of the Remington shotbusters, and they are good users, but you should look at the Rough Riders then too. They can be had in very nice red or black bone handles or micarta for about the same price, and they are good users too....

Congrats bro, that AG Rusher is a greatly under rated soddie, thin profile, great f&f and nice blade shape. The Case is a classic dressed up pretty, you will like it no doubt! Hope you post pics and welcome to the club:thumbup:
